Mr. Osomatsu Volume 1 Tops Both Blu-ray & DVD Anime Charts

The first Blu-ray and DVD volume (shown right) of the Mr. Osomatsu (Osomatsu-san) anime topped Oricon's weekly anime Blu-ray and DVD charts for the week of January 25 to 31. Both the DVD and Blu-ray were released on January 29.

The Blu-ray Disc release sold 35,795 copies during the week, and ranked #2 in the overall Blu-ray sales chart. The DVD release sold 43,313 copies during the week, and ranked #3 in the overall DVD sales chart.

The first volume came with "episode 3.5," which replaces episode 1 of the broadcast version. The third episode has also been partially altered from its original broadcast version. Both episode 1 and episode 3 of the broadcast version contained parodies of other properties. The second volume is slated for release on February 26.

The anime is also getting a novel adaptation, a smartphone game, and three browser games. Yū Mitsuru is credited as the writer for the novel adaptation, with the anime's character designer Naoyuki Asano providing the illustrations. Idea Factory's Otomate brand — which develops otome romance simulation games intended for female players — is also developing a Mr. Osomatsu video game.

Fujio Akatsuka's original Osomatsu-kun manga and "high tension comedy" TV anime centered on the Matsuno household, which has six naughty and mischievous sons (who are sextuplets). All of the sextuplets, including the eldest Osomatsu, are all in love with the same girl, Totoko. The original series followed the family when the sons were 10 years old. The Mr. Osomatsu show re-imagines the original manga and TV anime with the sextuplets as adults.

The series premiered last October. Crunchyroll is streaming the series as it airs in Japan.

Akatsuka launched the Osomatsu-kun manga in Shogakukan's Weekly Shonen Sunday magazine in 1962, and the manga ran in the magazine until 1969. The manga then ran in Weekly Shonen King from 1972-1973, and then in Comic BonBon from 1987-1990. The compiled manga volumes have more than 10 million copies in print.

In jeglicher Hinsicht.

Assassination Classroom Anime's 2nd Season to Cover Manga's Ending

This year's 12th issue of Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump magazine is posting an interview with Assassination Classroom anime director Seiji Kishi on Monday. In the interview, Kishi states that the second season of the anime will cover the manga up through its final chapter.

The manga will end in five more chapters in the magazine's 16th issue, which will ship in March.

The Anime Japan 2016 website listed that the anime's second season would have 25 episodes. The website for the second season lists that the series will have eight home video releases. The first home video release will contain three episodes.

The anime's second season premiered on January 7, and Funimation is streaming the series as it airs in Japan. A second live-action film will open in Japan on March 25.

Yusei Matsui Matsui launched the manga in July 2012, and Shueisha plans to ship the 18th and 19th compiled volumes on March 4 and April 4, respectively.

Hmm neee...
