Alderamin on the Sky Anime Adaptation Revealed as 2016 TV Series

The December issue of Kodansha's Shōnen Sirius magazine is revealing on Monday that the previously announced anime adaptation of writer Bokuto Uno and illustrators Sanbasō and Ryūtetsu's Nejimaki Seirei Senki: Tenkyō no Alderamin (English title: Alderamin on the Sky) light novel series will be a TV anime series that will premiere in 2016.

In the "military history fantasy" series, the Katvarna Empire is at war with the neighboring Republic of Kioka. In the Katvarna Empire, the lazy, woman-admiring Ikuta hates war, but due to certain circumstances, he grudgingly takes the High Grade Military Officer Exam. No one would have expected that this 17-year-old young man would eventually become a soldier called a great commander by others. Ikuta survives this world engulfed in war with his superior intellect.

Kadokawa released the first novel in June 2012. Due to Sanbasō's poor health, Ryūtetsu took over illustrating the series with the sixth novel. Kadokawa published the eighth novel on October 10. The third volume of Taiki Kawakami's manga adaptation also shipped in Japan on October 10.

Meito Anizawa (兄沢 命斗)
Meito Anizawa, also known as Anime Tenchou, is the manager of the Animate shop that Konata regularly visits; he was originally the mascot of Animate. He and his staff consider Konata their most valued customer known as "Legendary Girl A" and go to great lengths to sell to her. Their attempts usually fail miserably. His appearance is heavily stylized compared to the other characters, and he is known for his hot-blooded yelling and highly energetic movements and poses.

Kyoto Animation's Sound! Euphonium Gets Film & TV Series Sequel

Kyoto Animation announced a film, Gekijō-ban Hibike! Euphonium ~ Kitauji Kōkō Suisōraku-Bu e Yōkoso~ (Sound! Euphonium the Movie: Welcome to the Kitauji High School Concert Band), at the KyoAni & Do Fan Days 2015 event on Saturday. The anime studio also announced that production on a sequel to the Sound! Euphonium television series has been green-lit.

The film will look back at the Spring 2015 television series, which depicted a high school concert band's journey to the prefectural band competition. The sequel will depict what happens afterwards.

The Spring 2015 television anime adapted Ayano Takeda's 2013 novel, which is also titled Hibike! Euphonium Kitauji Kōkō Suisōraku-Bu e Yōkoso. The story follows the Kitauji High School Concert Band, which used to always advance to national competitions. Ever since the adviser changed, though, it has not advanced past the Kansai tournament. However, thanks to the newly appointed adviser's strict instruction, the students are steadily improving. The band members' daily lives are full of ups and downs including fights over solos and the decision to resign extracurricular activities to focus on studies.

The television anime premiered in April, and Pony Canyon USA streamed the anime on Crunchyroll as the anime aired in Japan. Pony Canyon USA will also release the anime in North America.

Update: While Kyoto Animation's original announcement did not specify the format of the sequel, MoCa describes the sequel as a television series.

Mr. Osomatsu Episode 1 to Be Pulled From Home Video, Streaming (Updated)

The official website of the comedy television anime series Mr. Osomatsu (Osomatsu-san) announced on Thursday that the first Blu-ray Disc/DVD volume of the series will not include the first episode, and will instead include a completely new episode in its place. The first Blu-ray/DVD volume is slated for a January 29 release. (Note: A previous version of this article noted that episodes 2 and 3 of the show will be reanimated. This is not correct, only the first episode will be completely reanimated, and episodes 2 and 3 will remain the same on the home video release. We apologize for the error.)

The staff also announced that the anime's production committee has decided to remove the anime's first episode from streaming sites. The following sites will remove the episode on November 12 at 12:00 a.m.

In a press conference on October 29, Yūichi Takahashi of TV Tokyo apologized for the series' third episode. The episode contained a parody of the Anpanman children's anime character. The first and second episodes of the show also contained parodies of many other series, such as Attack on Titan, Boys Over Flowers, and Sailor Moon.

n7kIS6c.jpg

Japan does not have a parody exception or provision in its copyright law. Therefore, making parodies of copyrighted works may illegally violate a copyright owners' "right to maintain integrity," if performed without the copyright holder's prior consent.

The series premiered on October 5. Crunchyroll is streaming the series as it airs in Japan.

Fujio Akatsuka's original Osomatsu-kun manga and "high tension comedy" TV anime centered on the Matsuno household, which has six naughty and mischievous sons (who are sextuplets). All of the sextuplets, including the eldest Osomatsu, are all in love with the same girl, Totoko. The original series followed the family when the sons were 10 years old.

The first 56-episode series aired in Japan in 1966-1967. Akira Shigino (Time Bokan: Royal Revival, Marude Dameo, Crayon Shin-chan: Otakebe! Kasukabe Yasei Ōkoku) directed the series, and Mainichi Broadcasting, Studio Zero, and Children's Corner produced the series. Studio Pierrot animated the second 86-episode series, which aired from 1988-1989. Shigino served as chief director.

The staff are creating the new anime to commemorate what would have been Akatsuka's 80th birthday (Akatsuka passed away in 2008 at age 72).

Akatsuka launched the Osomatsu-kun manga in Shogakukan's Weekly Shonen Sunday magazine in 1962, and the manga ran in the magazine until 1969. The manga then ran in Weekly Shonen King from 1972-1973, and then in Comic BonBon from 1987-1990. The compiled manga volumes have more than 10 million copies in print.

Update: Correction: The first episode of the TV series will be completely reanimated for the home video release, and the second and third episodes will remain the same.
