Hideyuki Motohashi (Saint Seiya: The Lost Canvas animation director, B't X, Ceres: Celestial Legend, Fushigi Yugi) is designing the characters.

The website also announced that the Spring anime will be streaming online, and it is streaming a teaser video. There will be a preview screening event before the streaming begins, and the website will provide more details. Bandai had unveiled the anime at the preview for its Tamashii Nations 2014 event in October.

Masami Kurumada's original mythological fantasy manga ran in Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump magazine from 1985 to 1990, and it has over 34 million copies in print worldwide. The manga quickly inspired a 1986 television anime series that was popular not only in Japan, but also in France, Italy, other parts of Europe, Brazil, other parts of South and Central America, and Asia. The anime aired in more than 80 countries.

Saint Seiya Omega, a sequel to the first anime, aired from April 2012 to March 2014. A decade after the last Saint Seiya film, 2004's Saint Seiya Tenkai-hen Jōsō ~Overture~, a new CG film directed by Keiichi Satou (Tiger & Bunny, Ashura) opened last June.

The series will ship on Blu-ray and DVD on March 3.

Sentai Filmworks describes the story:

Shinichi Kanou's father writes novels and his mother illustrates erotic video games, so it's not unsurprising that he'd turn out a fan of comics and science fiction. However, rather than channeling his efforts into creating like his parents, he has instead become one of the world's foremost experts on "moe," with an encyclopedic knowledge of all things cute and adorable in every conceivable form of animation and media. This sort of explains Shinichi's recruitment as an ambassador for moe to the Holy Erudanto Kingdom, a parallel world where things that previously only existed in anime actually exist!

How will a hot blooded young otaku react when dropped into a world with actual cute and adorable elf maids and dragons? More importantly, how will they react to this drooling devotee with diplomatic credentials? And even more to the point, exactly why does the Japanese government feel that sending someone to represent Japan's moe interests is a good idea in the first place?

Kei Oikawa (Minami-ke: Okaeri) directed the series at anime studio feel. Naruhisa Arakawa (Kingdom, MAOYU) is supervised the scripts and Takashi Mamezuka (Listen to Me, Girls. I Am Your Father!) is designed the characters.

Ichiro Sakaki wrote the light novel series that inspired the anime. Sakaki's writings already spawned several other anime such as Polyphonica, Scrapped Princess, and Strait Jacket.

Fans Pick 'Haven't You Heard? I'm Sakamoto' As #1 Manga They Want Animated

The Anime! Anime! website asked readers to choose what manga they most want turned into an anime. About 1,800 respondents picked their top three choices from February 3-8. Nami Sano's Haven't You Heard? I'm Sakamoto (Sakamoto desu ga?) was the top choice in the poll.

The story follows the daily life of the "coolest" high school student, Sakamoto. As soon as he transfers to his new school, he attracts the attention of not just his class but the whole student body, and his jealous classmates' attempts to bully him repeatedly backfire and instead make Sakamoto look cooler.

The series regularly ranks in top book sales in Japan and won the best "male-oriented" comics volume award from Da Vinci Magazine in 2013 and the Comic Natalie Grand Prize. Seven Seas will release the first volume in North America later this year.

The full results include:

Haven't You Heard? I'm Sakamoto by Nami Sano (Enterbrain/Seven Seas)
One-Punch Man by ONE and Yuusuke Murata (Shueisha/Viz Media)
Yotsuba&! by Kiyohiko Azuma (MediaWorks/Yen Press)
March comes in like a lion by Chika Umino (Hakusensha)
Drifters by Kouta Hirano (Shonengahosha/Dark Horse Comics)
Nijiiro Days by Minami Mizuno (Shueisha)
Oresama Teacher by Izumi Tsubaki (Hakuensha/Viz Media)
Yandere Kanojo by Shinobi (Square Enix)
Amaama to Inazuma by Gido Amagakure (Kodansha)
Soul Catcher(S) by Hideo Shinkai (Shueisha)

A similar poll by Charapedia that included light novels and manga was held last year. That list also included One-Punch Man, Haven't You Heard? I'm Sakamoto, Nijiiro Days, Oresama Teacher, March comes in like a lion, and Yotsuba&!. Two series from that list, Denpa Kyōshi - He Is a Ultimate Teacher and Mikagura Gakuen Kumikyoku, are getting anime series this year.
