Arc System Works has announced the next entry in the BlazBlue franchise, BlazBlue Chrono Phantasma. The arcade sequel features three new characters: Amane Nishiki, Bullet and Azrael. Other features include new and updated backgrounds, new and updated background music, and new skills for current characters.
View a first trailer below. Chrono Phantasma will hit arcades in Winter 2012 and will go on location test at Akihabara's Hey arcade from August 6 through August 12.
Arc System Works have begun releasing more information on BlazBlue: Chrono Phantasma, which they announced this past weekend at their BlueFes 2012 event. As previously reported, Chrono Phantasma will have three new characters, new moves for the game’s returning characters, and new costumes as well. You can watch a trailer for it here.
Among the changes to this new revision is something called the Overdrive system. The Overdrive system replaces Gold Bursts, and grants character-specific benefits. Overdrives are activated by pressing all four attack buttons at once. A list of Overdrive effects for the various characters can be found on Shoryuken.com.
Additionally, Arc System Works have also released a PDF file with an extensive list of move and system changes that have been implemented in BlazBlue: Chrono Phantasma. You can download this here (in Japanese) and find details translated by fans—take with a grain of salt—in Shoryuken’s report. New moves in the PDF are marked in pink, while changed moves are in blue.
Keep in mind that the build of Chrono Phantasma these are from isn’t final. Location testing for the game began in Japan today, and BlazBlue: Chrono Phantasma is planned for an arcade release in Japan this winter.
Arc System Work's upcoming major update to the BlazBlue series is now coming to Japanese arcades sooner than expected!
Originally planned for the winter season, Famitsu confirmed that Chrono Phantasma is now arriving in the latter half of November! Along with the announcement, there is also a magazine leak adding familiar characters back into the CP roster: Mu-12 and the return of Calamity Trigger's own Nu-13!
Make sure to check the latest trailer and notes about the characters and other info after the jump!
- Both Nu-13 and Mu-12 are playable
- Mu’s Overdrive is Steins Gazer (Geyser?), it makes her lasers faster
- Her AH got new animation
- Story mode: Noel wishes to control the power of the Azure to save Tsubaki and turns into Mu thanks to Rachel’s powers. She’s still the same old Noel inside.
- Nu’s Overdrive is Unlimited Drive, which increases the amount of swords summoned (like in her Unlimited version?)
- New move, Supra Rage. Nu does a backflip and strikes with her legs, making this a good anti-air move that also gives her some distance.
- No new info about the loketests.
