Over the past couple of months, Sonys gained a kind of reputation for saying crap.
They say some crap, and then they say some more crap to defend the crap they said earlier. Leading the brigade on the B.S. front are Major Ken PS3 is a computer Kutaragi, Commander Kaz RIIIIIIIDGE RRRAAAAAACEEEERRR!!! Hirai, and Colonel Phil We aint got no money Harrison.
Whats that? No monees?
If I could direct your attention to this post here at GamesIndustry.biz, it looks like the good Colonel decided to explain why the SIXAXIS *snicker* cant have both, rumble and motion sensing.
His reasoning?
I think the caveat to that statement always has to be based on the fact that when we make a pad, were making maybe 150, 200 million of them.
So it has to be done at a price, and it has to be done at a volume that fits our production requirements. I think the decision that weve made to build in the sixaxis functionality, and Bluetooth Wireless, and great battery life, and all the other functionality that comes with it, far outweighs the chatter that were getting on vibration. And, its incredibly light! Just pick it up!
So basically, Nintendo, Immersion, and everyone else can produce it and keep it cost-effective, but Sony cant? We appreciate the honesty, Phil.
