Here's my two cents.
I joined Neogaf in 2006. It was a pretty good forum. Breaking leaks, high activity, people who you could discuss even the most niche of videogames with. Plenty of funny stories and banter in OT too. There was always a "progressive" undertone and that was fine, it was nice not to have all the immature shit. We had a wide range of people all with different beliefs and plenty of debate but it was for the most part respectful and seeing all these diverse opinions really created great discussion.
However the past few years, really the past 3-5 at a guess something happened. You jumped on board the SJW crazy train. It started slowly at first, a few bans here and there for some people, bans for people really going against the popular opinion who wouldn't back down from defending their own opinion. The crazy train picked up speed though, it got worse and worse every year. Which leads us to the past year which is hands down the most facist and disgusting forum I've ever seen. Anyone who didn't bow down to the extreme-left ideology was banned. You either stayed silent or you were banned. Shit, people would go through each others post history to try and find who was having "thought crimes". It was like Invasion of the body snatchers.

It wasn't just Neogaf though. Anyone outside the forum got it just as bad. This forum THRIVED on Witchunts. "They dared to question to progressive agenda? they didn't have minorities make up 80% of their videogame? whats that they dared to have a woman wear tight pants.....cus women don't do that in real life oh no.." off to ruin lives it was. With their campaigns to boycott, put people out of business, get them sacked, ruin their lives, affect their friendships and careers.
It's funny. This forum was obsessed with toxicity in gaming, yet as we've seen over the weekend EVERYONE ELSE viewed Neogaf as the most toxic environment in the industry. A fact you even allude to in your post Tyler. Neogaf was the bad guy all along.
You lot thought you were the voice of the industry. You thought you spoke for the people. Nope, turns out literally every other forum out there thought you were just a load of pathetic, far left loonies.
You say you just want to get back to videogames, no more social and political discourse. Too little too late, this is exactly what you should have done years ago. That's all people wanted. But no you cultivated this SJW enviroment. What started as the odd thread about social issues quickly spiraled into a situation where every other thread was now about this progressive shit in gaming. It wasn't even good discussion either, it was just psychos wanting to go ruin lives because a developer didn't cater to their ideological world view. It was toxic.
I find it funny that you only want to ban social and political discourse when it comes back to bite you in the ass.

"Women must be believed at all costs" says the SJWs. I get that, I understand why it's important especially as most are speaking out about men in power. Your forum was the worst thing to happen to the videogame industry. You loved it though. Thought you were a big shot. Thought people were afraid of you while you had your lynch mobs and hate groups. This forum used to be your throne. Now it serves as some kind of shitty memorial where people only come here to laugh at you. Look at it. It's a ghost town. The only people still here are throwing their accounts away making fun of you for a laugh. It's still going on. The SJW crowd won't touch you anymore.
