Counter-Strike on XBLA?

We'll certainly consider it," says Valve's Doug Lombardi

In an interview with OXM, Valve's marketing man Doug Lombardi has said that bringing older games to Xbox Live Arcade (like Counter-Strike) is something the developer would "certainly consider".

Portal: Still Alive will be Valve's first entry into the Xbox Live Arcade scene. The Combine-less portion of The Orange Box is being released on Xbox Live for those who didn't fancy playing some of the best games ever made.

"It's designed to give Xbox 360 gamers the chance to get Portal, for those who didn't want to go through the Orange Box. It's Portal, the game we all played and loved last year, plus 10-20 new challenges that you'll unlock," explained Lombardi adding that the extra challenges will be "exclusive to Xbox 360 in 2008".

When asked about the possibility of older Valve games appearing on XBLA, Lombardi sounds interested though he stopped short of saying anything was actually in the pipeline. "We'll certainly consider it. If you look at what we've done on Steam, we try to make all our games available and we're always reviewing the prices to keep them current. We'd love to do that, but Portal: Still Alive is our first step at doing that beyond the PC."

As usual, none of these plans yet include PS3 or Nintendo, although Portal on Wii would be a awesome. "Right now, Valve's doing PC and 360 stuff, so anything we would iterate on would be on Xbox. We don't have any immediate plans to do this on PS3 or Nintendo."

Schon klar. Habe selber 4 Jahre in Clans gespielt.

Castle Crashers = 1800 points?!

According to the official Japanese Xbox 360 blog, August 6th's Braid will be setting gamers back 1200 Microsoft Points ($15), with Castle Crashes weighing in at 1800 Points ($22.50?) - the most expensive Live Arcade game yet. Note that these are Japanese prices, while also noting that they generally coincide with European and North American prices.

Microsoft dishing out free Xbox Live points?

isn't everyday you see the words "Microsoft" and "gift" in the same sentence. But here goes; Microsoft appears to be handing out a gift of 500 MS Points to various Xbox Live users.

There is, however, a catch. Nobody seems to know why they've received free points and we're assuming this is just some sort of hiccup.

Nonetheless, we recommend you check your Xbox Live account via your console or Xbox.com, as there could be an extra 500 MS Points ready and waiting.

The free points were originally thought to be compensation for those who had pre-ordered Rockstar's Grand Theft Auto IV. The title was sold with a special offer that granted all pre-ordering customers 500 free MS points. Unfortunately, most users weren't aware that those free points had an expiry date and it was believed that Microsoft was merely refunding those customers who felt short-changed.

However, it has now been confirmed that many of the free-point recipients didn't pre-order GTA IV, and many have never played the game.

To further add to the confusion, various Xbox Live subscribers have also reported that MS Points are being deducted from their accounts without warning - often including points they'd actually paid for.

We're awaiting official confirmation from Microsoft, but something clearly doesn't add up. Have you received or lost any MS Points? Let us know in the HEXUS.community forums.

Ihr mögt die alten Rare-Games? Dann schaut mal (es ist nichts bestätigt!!!):
Every Xbox 360 gamer already knows that GoldenEye 007, the Nintendo 64 classic game from Rare, has no chance of being revived on the Xbox Live Arcade platform since Microsoft doesn’t own the brand and rights to the game.

Knowing that Microsoft will release the original N64 game Banjo-Kazooie on the Arcade platform later this year, we asked recently appointed General Manager of Microsoft Game Studios Phil Spencer, in an interview in Los Angeles, if more classic titles from the Rare catalogue would eventually hit XBLA.
"We do have the rights of the complete Rare catalogue (except GoldenEye 007). We’re studying all the possibilities to bring classic games from the past like Killer Instinct and Perfect Dark" said Spencer.
