Toukiden 2 Screenshots Show Kaguya, Yakumo, Kuon, And New Oni Onuhouko

Koei Tecmo previously shared details on new characters and a new Oni for Toukiden 2, and they’ve followed up with a first look in the game’s latest screenshots.

Kaguya

A shrine maiden who protects the Mahoroba Village. She’s one of the few people that have the ability to protect the village with a barrier and is treated with importance. She feels restricted in the village and secretly goes outside for a sense of freedom.

Yakumo

Weapon: Dual Swords

He is the captain of the Imperial Guardsmen that protect the shrine maiden. He has nothing but absolute loyalty towards Kaguya. He would take an arrow for her without thinking twice. He’s from a prestigious family and is overweening in pride. For this reason, he often acts arrogant towards others.

Kuon

A shrine maiden that worships the Mitama on the religious service grounds. She has a cheerful personality and treats everyone equally. She runs a small restaurant as a hobby and for some profit. She seems to cook some strange foods that she feeds the villagers.

New Oni: Onuhouko

A large-type Oni that can be found in areas such as forests. Its insect-like body is covered in a tough shell, and when it finds a prey to attack, it uses its many legs to quickly approach and uses its sharp claws from its front arms.

Similar to the previous game, you’ll level up your Mitama by fighting and they’ll acquire new skills as they do so. Additionally, skill levels increase as well, making the skills more powerful. There are various conditions that are required for the Mitama and skills to grow.

Toukiden 2 will release in Japan for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, and PlayStation Vita on June 30, 2016.

Toukiden 2 in Japan verschoben

17.05.16 - Koei Tecmo gibt bekannt, dass das Action RPG Toukiden 2 (PS4, PS3, PS Vita) vom 30.06.16 auf den 28.07.16 in Japan verschoben wurde. Die Mehrzeit wollen die Entwickler zur Qualtiätsverbesserung des Spiels nutzen.

Toukiden 2 details and screenshots: story, Touya and Manadzuru, new Oni

Koei Tecmo has updated the Toukiden 2 official website with new information and screenshots on the game’s story, and the new characters and Oni first introduced in Weekly Famitsu this week.

■ Story

The time period is the Meiji era—the world was destroyed in the Awakening. The “surface of history” that had gone unbroken was ruined, and the “underside of history” led by the evil spirits of the rivers and mountains began to swallow the world.

Large “Oni” appeared in the lands of the far north, and began going south while overrunning human habitation. Slayers, warriors deployed to Yokohama to intercept the Oni, fought against them while defending the city of Yokohama.

In the middle of it all, a giant Oni came down from the sky, and a single Slayer was swallowed by the Oni Gate that opened.

And now, ten years later—a Slayer who lost his memory washes up in “Mahoroba Village” for to the west.

■ Characters

Touya (voiced by Takamasa Mogi)

A commanding officer leading the samurai. He is a patriot that gathers up outsiders while wandering about and created a powerful military force. His revolutionary ideas underlie everything he does, and he aims to free outsiders from their subordinate positions. He’s on bad terms with Yakumo.

Manadzuru (voiced by Saori Goto)

The merciless vice commander. Vice commander of the samurai unit. She is known as the merciless vice commander after Shinsengumi vice commander Hijikata Toshizo from her respect for discipline. She is a very strict and rational person, but has a weakness for cute, small animals. She’s Kamuna’s older sister.

■ Oni

Daibatachi

A large, beast-type Oni with supple and strong limbs. Its tail is a huge blade that can cut through all that oppose it.

Guhin

A medium-sized Oni with a big mouth that resembles a wolf. Its fan-like tail can create wind and thunder, and release powerful attacks. Even skilled Slayers should not be careless around this Oni.

Toukiden 2 is due out for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, and PS Vita in Japan on July 28. A PS Vita demo and PlayStation 4 demo update are due out on May 24.

Toukiden 2 new demo launches July 21 in Japan

A new Toukiden 2 demo will launch via the PlayStation Store in Japan on July 21, the latest issue of Weekly Famitsu reveals.

Save data from the new demo, unlike save data from the currently available demo, can be imported into the final game.

Toukiden 2 is due out for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, and PS Vita in Japan on July 28.

Toukiden 2’s Opening Video Shows An Intense Fight Against A Giant Oni

Toukiden 2 is releasing in Japan next week for PS4, PS3, and PS Vita, and Koei Tecmo revealed the game’s opening movie featuring an intense fight against a giant Oni.

Additionally, Koei Tecmo also released the demo for Toukiden 2 in Japan which is currently available for all three platforms. As previously reported, the demo will let you carry over save data to the retail version of the game when it releases next week.
