Yumi Interview Translation!

Happy Friday gang!

Some of you may have seen that Yumi Hara, the voice actress of Yumi in SENRAN KAGURA, recently had an interview posted on YouTube.

Being the star he is – our Japanese (and Chinese and English!!) speaking Accountant translated it into English.

You can check out what she has to say about SENRAN KAGURA ESTIVAL VERSUS, her favourite food and much, much more below. Please note that this is only a rough translation and some of it may not be 100%, but you should be able to get the gist of things.

Please introduce yourself

Hi everyone! Cuteness is justice. I am Yumi Hara.

Good booby day! (laughs)

What did you think when accepting the performance offer?

At the beginning, although I haven’t played it before, I knew Senran Kagura is a big title. Many of my senpai who have a close relationship with me, perform in this title. Also (I know a) Senran Kagura anime is under production. Senran Kagura is really famous. I didn’t’ expect myself to be casted in this big title. So I was really happy when receiving the offer.

The character’s name, by chance, is the same with mine. It’s written as “yukiizumi” but it reads “yumi” which is exactly how my name is read. I have a strong feeling that it’s destiny for me to perform this role. In the studio, when staff members are discussing about the character, I hear “Yumi” a lot around me and it makes me feel that they are calling me. It makes my heart beat faster. I still haven’t got used to it but I feel really happy.

What is the similarities and differences between you and your character?

Yumi’s hobby is calligraphy. I like calligraphy as well which I think is our similarity. Yumi’s talent is Japanese dance. I’m really bad at dancing so I admire and respect Yumi’s talent.

Her characteristics are completely different from mine. She has a strong character. You can see her ice-like features in a lot of scenes (note: the first Kanji in her name means snow). She is surrounded by many irresponsible characters. At the beginning of the story (Estival Versus), she was so serious -which made her prone to being mocked by others, which in turn, makes her even more flustered. I still remember performing in these scenes. But I find her really adorable.

What do you think is the cutest thing in the world?

This is a tough question. I mean there are too many cute things and people like actresses and idols. As a voice actress, I think the characters I’ve played are cute. Even though they may be designed to be evil or hard to please, I have love for them all. I think among the characters I’ve played, the cutest character is Yumi. Yumi is cute in all ways. Her appearance is cute. She is so cute that you want to poke her face. She’s even cute when getting angry. Yumi is really cute. No I’m not talking about myself! I mean my character Yumi!

What’s the most justified thing you have ever done?

It’s a tough question. I must have done something justified in my 20+ years’ of life. I just can’t remember. The most recent “justified” or “supportive” thing I have done is – you know the rubbish bin near the post boxes inside apartment buildings, where people throw away leaflets. Many people throw them outside the bin. Sometimes I will pick them up and put them in the bin. I feel myself being really supportive and helpful. I can’t think of anything else for now.

Do you have common feelings of Yumi’s favourite food? Can you tell us your favourite food?

Yumi’s favourite food is shaved ice with azuki beans jam on top. I like shaved ice but I don’t eat azuki beans a lot. In summer, I’ll pour some condensed milk on strawberry jam on top of shaved ice. So I think the common point for us is shaved ice. In real life, I like cup noodles. For me, cup noodles is the top food in the world.

The background in Senran Kagura Estival Versus is on the beach. In real life, do you like going to the beach or going mountain hiking?

I prefer going to the beach. I think hiking is fine but I don’t like insects. I guess there are many of them in the mountains, so (I’m) absolutely not going there. In the past when I travelled with my family, I don’t remember going hiking in the mountains. Yes I like the beach.

Please tell us the highlights of Estival Versus

The story of Estival Versus contains both serious and fun parts, and of course, the sexy part. In previous Senran Kagura games, clothes were simply getting ripped off. In Estival Versus, clothes are not only ripped off, but also get wet so you can see the underwear. In addition, there are more exciting variations (presumably speaking about new additions to be disclosed). Graphics are also great in this game, especially on PS4, it looks more vivid. The beautiful graphics is definitely one of the highlights. My voice is also in the theme song. You can hear many bright summer songs. They are also my favourite type of songs, so I put in more cuteness while recording these. Please enjoy the songs in the game!

Which conversations or scenes leave you with the biggest impression?

There are both warm and cold conversations. I remember the part at the debut of Yumi’s dark-shadow grandpa. When I was performing this part, I realised her grandpa is really important to her. Because of that, her grandpa showed up and he…. I can’t spoil more details. This is one big highlight for Yumi.

Which new character catches your eyes?

Cute characters. There are so many characters in this game (25 in total) and they are all so cute. The one that caught my eye is Sayuri I guess. A grandpa surrounded by young girls is a common scene in Senran Kagura games. I don’t remember any scene with a grandma being surrounded by girls. Personally, what really catches my eyes are the big boobs on this old lady. I like watching more scenes of Sayuri’s moves.

In the Senran Kagura series, you can change costumes for characters. Which costumes do you like to wear and which ones do you want Yumi to wear?

My clothes don’t fit Yumi’s style. I can accept all her costumes that don’t expose body parts too much. Yumi is cute so I want her wearing all kinds of costumes. Because she fits so many styles of costumes, I want to try some really plain clothes on her. Say, a really ragged jersey that students wear. I want to create a contrasting image, so that Yumi actually looks ‘normal’ like everyday people outside the shinobi academy. Currently she wears a Kimono and dress. She also looks good in white colours. So I really want to try a wedding dress on her.

During the battles in Senran Kagura, costumes will get ripped off. Have you ever experienced in real life, your clothes being unexpectedly broken or ripped?

Actually I have. It happened a few years ago. I even blogged my surprise about this incident. There was a hole on my one piece dress around the waist. Sometimes I realise that my clothes are broken when walking in town. Once when I was walking past Shibuya 109 (note: a popular fashion department store), I suddenly found something I was wearing broken, and I thought – I have to buy new clothes here today. So I went into the department store, bought some clothes, changed, and disposed of the broken item. I felt relieved that I found this out by myself. Isn’t it embarrassing to walk around in broken clothes? It was nervous experience.

How were your clothes broken?

I don’t know! It might have caught on something. I wasn’t aware of it at all. Well it happens.

What do you like in Senran Kagura?

Enormous boobs. When I play the game, I keep staring at those boobs. These characters look so fit. When they fight or run, the boobs shake a lot. I really admire them. It is a highlight of the game of course.

One sentence to conclude the game

I’ve already covered this – enormous boobs… and more! The sexy scenes and representation are all crossed together. The whole storyline as well as the duties born by characters also enrich the game. So please enjoy all of these.

What are your expectations of Senran Kagura (in the future)?

I want to sing in Senran Kagura’s game events. Also, Yumi hasn’t yet shown up in Senran Kagura anime. I will be really happy if she can be in the anime as well.

What about the new OVA in the Limited Edition?

The scenes are overly exciting. You can see a lot of THINGS. When it’s broadcast on TV, I guess many scenes will be cut (annotation: Blu-ray edition is uncut version). I don’t know which version you can see, I can only tell you there are numerous heart speeding, overly exciting scenes. It is absolutely a big highlight.

What does “enormous boobs” mean to you?

Hahaha. It is my yearning forever. My voice is said to be a “booby” voice. Because 90% of my characters have big boobs including Yumi. So enormous boobs for me is only related to my voice. But I really yearn to be booby.



What is your message to those fans waiting for Senran Kagura Estival Versus?

There are loads of new features. You will see a lot more characters this time, including Yumi who will show up more frequently. The existing characters will also show up a lot of course. Please have a play of Senran Kagura Estival Versus with tissues at hand, because this exciting game will make your nose bleed. Thank you for watching!

Senran Kagura: Estival Versus’ multiplayer modes outlined

Marvelous has outlined Senran Kagura: Estival Versus‘ three online multiplayer modes. As previously announced, the game supports up to 10 players online on PlayStation 4 and four players on PS Vita.

Find each mode detailed below.

Point Battle

Earn points by doing things such as landing certain hits and taking down enemies. The winner is defined in one of two ways. If the point threshold is predetermined, the first player to cross it wins. If it’s a timed match, the player with the most points at the end wins.

Panty Collection Battle

Gather the panties raining down on the stage. You can attack other players, and if they’re defeated, they’ll drop the panties they collected. If the collected panty threshold is predetermined, the first player to cross it wins. If it’s a timed match, the player with the most panties at the end wins.

Capture the Brag

One “Bra Flag,” several players. By defeating enemies, the number of bras attached to the flag will increase. One player will hold the flag, and as the number of bras attached to the flag increase, it will further strengthen the player in possession. The winner is determined either by getting a set number of panties or by whoever holds the flag at the end.

Additionally, Marvelous has gone up with descriptions for new characters Sayuri and Jasmine. (We already covered Sayuri, actually, but given her relation to this newer character, we felt best to include it.)

Sayuri

“Welcome to the Kagura Thousand-Year Festival, young Shinobi.”

Sayuri is the wife of the eponymous Hanzou Academy’s founder and Asuka’s grandmother. Strong enough to put even Hanzou in his place, Sayuri is a tremendously powerful woman who still has a soft spot for her granddaughter. Lately, she’s been traveling around the country alongside the Mikagura sisters as a priestess for the festival. She was also once the target of Kurokage’s affections, over which Hanzou routinely fought him over years and years ago.

Jasmine

“All right, now I’m serious. When you see me like this, call me Jasmine!”

Jasmine is Sayuri’s Shinobi Tenshin form. Unlike other characters, her transformation affects not just her clothing, but also the age of her body so as to maintain optimal control over her power. Her weapon of choice is her pipe, with which she blows smoke into enemies.

In Shinovi hab ich kaum MP gespielt, leider, muss ich mal einlegen und etwas spielen, macht ja schon Spass wobei ich Online kein Land sehe^^
 
wenns mal im store wieder im Angebot ist und ichs habe, können wir ja mal ne runde Online Spielen ^^

Wäre viel sexier, wenn die Illusion bestünde, dass die Mädels sowas wie Nippel haben, die nur immer irgendwie verdeckt sind, anstatt genau zu wissen, dass die SK Girls überhaupt keine haben. Und nach dem Screen zu urteilen haben sie keine...oder die sitzen an ganz seltsamen Stellen. XD
 
Bei den alten Teilen ist das auch immer irgendwie verdeckt, mal sehen ob sie es hier am Ende auch machen, ich denke schon.

Wenn du dir oben das Video anssiehst, siehst du es auch, der Screen ist wohl nur ungünstig gemacht worden.
 
Ich hab das Video gesehen, auch wo andere Mädels die Rollen aus ihren Brüsten ziehen. ;) Immer hüpfen die Brüste so hoch ins Bild, dass da eigentlich Nippel zu sehen sein müssten, wenn da welche da wären.
 
Kommende OVA präsentiert erstmalig Nippel. Im Spiel wird es aber weiterhin beim "convenient censoring" bleiben, damit das Spiel unter der 18er Alterseinstufung bleibt.
 
Ansich ist es ja auch nicht wichtig. Das Klamotten zerreißen war eh immer nur Bonus. Sie sollten eher aufpassen das sie nicht in die falsche Richtung abdriften und nur noch Boobs Boobs Boobs machen. Die Story von Burst und auch von Shinovi Versus ist schon relativ deep und gerade die Mädels sind klasse charakterisiert. Wenn sie das irgendwann komplett rausnehmen und nur noch so nen Fanservice Mindfuck Shit wie Bon Appetit machen dann bin ich raus!^^
