Exposing more on the Revolution
Finally i am free to share with you more.
For everyone that has visited this blog asking themselves questions, on just what is the Revolution.
Now you will know more much more.
Many of you are thinking that i revealed so much in my first post, but all i can say is that you are just at the tip of the iceberg.
Wanna know about the system shown at e3, let's start there.
This system sit's on a silver stand, this stand is a charging bay for when you are on the move, it's power comes from a solar cell.
Revolution onboard sound details
The system will feature an onboard amplifer,
upto 7.1 surround sound output
the chipset can decode the following:
WMA9, WMA Pro, WMA lossless, Dolby Digital, Dolby Pro Logic 1/2, DTS, MP3/5.1, MPEG-1, MPEG-2, and MPEG-4 AAC.
any set of speakers currently on the market can be used with the revolution, but for a more spatial sound experience we are going o be releasing on launch a set of 7 speakers and subwoofer, that are very powerful yet extremely affordable.
There will be a headset that features dolby digital 5.1 surround sound and a noise cancelling microphone, 3 button mouse/scrollwheel and keyboard.
At e3 we were not entirely truthful about the revolutions media capability.
Revolution can playback HD-DVD, DVD-R/RW, DVD+R/RW, CD, and CD-R/RW. MPEG-2, MPEG-4, and WMV 9 playback in high definition via internal add on. We will only be using component out there are no plans to use DVI or HDMI but this may change.
Add on is basically a case half the height of the revolution but same length and width, the back end has flap that inserts into the revolution, at e3 we where not quite true saying that it's an internal attachment, many people think it just goes in internally but that won't be the case. It slots in interanlly but it is still an external case.
The case will come wih a built in harddrive, the case will have 3 sizes 400GB, 700GB, 1000GB
The case will be released near the end of 2006. There are plans for the case to include HD-DVD playback for future games and media as well as there is Blue-Ray format in the talks with executives, we obviously want to keep costs down and this would bring costs up. We want to release this near the end of next year as we want to see how Sony do with it first. But most defintely HD-DVD will be in the system.
Revolution release date set for march 2006
adds will continue and probably leak soon
official unveiling some time in the foreseeable future
