Info on the Dev Kit for PS5 from an Indie Developer
Hello everyone, I am a Indie developer who works on a PlayStation 5 dev kit and will remain anonymous for the time being. As of right now I can only confirm on what I have seen from other developers working on the machine and what I have seen from the actual dev kit itself.
8GB für Games und 6TF SSD :v:
Leider gingen statt 32GB die sie unbeding wollten nur 16GB wegen PSVR2, weil es ja 24GB nicht geben könnte, neeee von 32GB geht nur 16GB GDDR6 :v:
Hello everyone, I am a Indie developer who works on a PlayStation 5 dev kit and will remain anonymous for the time being. As of right now I can only confirm on what I have seen from other developers working on the machine and what I have seen from the actual dev kit itself.
- The Codename for the PS5 is called the "PSV" and the reason for this is because the numeral number means 5 and Sony is 99% sure that they will name their Next Gen System the PS5 because of the familiar name branding.
- The Dev Kit itself looks like a big black box, and the PSVR 2 and the DualShock 5 are both hard wired to the Dev Kit itself. The PSVR 2 will play a major role in the Playstation 5 lifespan and all developers will have the option to enable the VR headset into the games or disable it completely. The PSVR 2 is a major upgrade from the Original PSVR headset and the retail unit will be wireless instead of being wired and all of the Playstation Move controllers will work fine with the new headset, however Sony are testing new Move Controllers to work with the New PSVR headset in order to make it more easy and accessible then what it was before.
- The Dualshock 5 is a refine upgrade from its original predecessor the Dualshock 4. However, the DualShock 5 will eliminate the TouchPad completely and it will instead come with an OLED TouchScreen so that Games can be played on the controller itself. However due to the system being relatively powerful the DualShock 5 will NOT be portable and you CAN NOT take your games on the go instead think of the Wii U gamepad of where someone is watching TV and the Game is automatically played on the controller, it will function similarly to that. The Triggers will have Rumble Like Moters in them almost similar to the Xbox One Controller, and the Share and Option Button will be eliminated and Sony will bring back the Start and Select Buttons. While you are playing a game, the touchscreen on the Dualshock 5 controller will have a UI and from there you can access the Share functionality from the Original PS4 and you can browse the Playstation Store and do other stuff while you are waiting for a game to load or if you are playing a game. But this is only in use if a developer hasn't used the Touchscreen for anything like Weapon Load outs, etc, but if you would like the UI to be accessed from the controller then you can do so from the PS5 Home Menu. The Controller itself comes with a built in mic, and the shape of the controller is the same as the Dualshock 4 controller with a bit of tweaks and modifications.
- The UI for the PS5 is similar to the PS4 but it has a much more crisp and sharp feeling and it has a more VR Feel to it meaning that the UI for the PS5 is designed for the VR unit itself. The PlayStation Store will be redefined to make it more friendly and Usernames can be changed on the System from Day One without any hesitation.
- One of the reasons as to why Sony is skipping E3 in 2019 is NOT to prepare for the Reveal for the PS5, but more so they feel that the popularity of E3 is slowly dying and digital media is such a big thing to where they can just reveal a game in 3 minutes and more then 5 million people will have seen the trailer and get more excited for a game. Also too the big games like The Last Of Us Part 2, Ghost of Tsushima, and Death Stranding have been talked about for such a long time and they feel that if they keep talking about these games without an official reveal date then the popularity of these games will slowly decrease and Sony dosen't want that. Speaking of which The Last of Us Part 2 is almost done but it is not ready for a launch date and this is because Naughty Dog is still determining on whether to make this game a Cross Gen Game or just release it for the PS4 in late 2019/early 2020 and just put the "remastered" version of the PS5 during the launch window. As of right now Ghost of Tsushima and Death Stranding are not done yet, but expect more info on all 3 games during PSX of 2019.
- As for the reveal date for the PS5, I have been told by Sony that the Machine will be talked about sometime in early 2020 and there will be NO mention at all during PSX of 2019 or during 2019 at all. Sony is preparing really hard for the PS5 and they are almost done with the machine itself, however the rumors of the machine being a "monster" are relatively true for the time being but as time goes on and technology becomes more demanding, the PS5 might turn out like how the PS4 did in a sense that they might do a PS5 Pro Upgrade to it.
- The Next Assassins Creed Game, GTA 6, and Starfield are all but confirmed to be coming to the PS5 and as for the next Assassins Creed Game, one of the reasons as to why it is not going to be released in 2019 is because the setting of this game will be in Japan and Ubisoft knows of how much fans want to see an Assassins Creed Samurai theme and because of this they know that if they put this on the Next Gen Systems then it will be a huge success for them financially. As for GTA 6, I can't give out any specific information but expect a teaser from Rockstar Games in Late 2021 and expect the game to be released in 2023. Starfield is 50% done, but do not expect any info on Starfield in E3 2019 this is because Bethesda is waiting for the official announcements of Next Gen Systems and when Sony and Microsoft talk and reveal their systems, then Bethesda will fully reveal Starfield in its playable state but from what I have seen the game is massive and it is built for Next Gen Systems.
- The PS5 comes equipped with 16GB of GDDR6 Ram, and it will come equipped with an 8 Core Ryzen CPU and a Navi Based GPU. Sony really wants to put in 32GB of GDDR6 Ram but due to the PSVR 2 being bundled with every PS5 they have to make sure that the system will be $400 + the PSVR2 which will retail for $100 and in total the PS5 will be $500. However the 16GB of ram will NOT be used in games, however the ram will be divided up into two sections so for example 8GB will be for the Games and 8GB alone will be used for the OS itself. So far the games that I have seen have been running at 4k/30FPS which is not a way to start off the 9th gen, but it is a significant upgrade from the PS4. Anthem is having difficulties running at this current state, but Bio Ware is determined to put the game on PS4 and Xbox One and the Next Gen Systems. The PS4 version runs at 720p/30fps while the PS5 version runs at 4k/60fps so yes some games will run at a constant 4k/60fps but the majority of the games from what I have seen have been running at 4K/30FPS.
- The PS5 is all but confirmed to be released in November of 2020 and it will come equipped with a 6TB SSD which can be removed from the system itself. If you have any questions please posts your comments down below and I will answer them in the best possible way I could, thank you!
