PS4 Neo would 'fundamentally change' No Man's Sky, says creator Sean Murray
SONY'S powerful new PlayStation Neo console could have a big impact on No Man's Sky and future titles, according to the game's creator Sean Murray.
The introduction of more powerful console hardware in the shape of PS4 Neo could "fundamentally change" the core experience of No Man's Sky, according to the games creator Sean Murray.
The game, released today revolves around a "universe-sized sandbox full of choices." and this features well over 18,446,744,073,709,551,616 (18 quintillion) possible planets to be explored.
The PS4 and PC title has been on every sci-fi fans radar as far back as 2013 when it was first announced and is already causing quite a stir in the gaming community having now been officially released to the world.
But if he game seems impressive now, just wait until Sony release their new more powerful PlayStation console, because it could have a big impact on the game moving forward.
"If you play another game and if they do a remaster of that game, what they will do is up-res the textures and things like that," explains Sean Murray.
"That's because the base geometry, the base shape of the world, the way of playing is totally like lost, basically. 100’s of people have worked on it thousands of hours to create what you see.
"For our game (No Man's Sky) it’s procedurally generated. So more powerful hardware doesn’t just mean upgraded textures or a higher framerate. It means we can fundamentally change the experience.
"You can have - and you'll see this from our patch notes - we're able to change huge things in the universe, because we have complete control.
"With more powerful hardware, we can have more trees, more leafs on those trees. The density or immersion of worlds, or new types of worlds could exist.
It's a really fun thing to think about, its a really fun thing to think about what impact more powerful hardware could have on our game and tech in the future.
