Anime One Piece!

Die neue Folge war insgesamt ganz gut, der erste Teil war mir etwas zu gestreckt, ich muss nicht sehen das sich der Käfig in jedem Stadtteil bewegt, ich mein er ist rund und bewegt sich daher überall. Die zweite Hälfte war aber super, besonders wie sie das Gamma Knife umgesetzt haben. Trebol ist auch der nutzloste Offizier überhaupt, steht immer nur da und kommentiert

Ich finde es auch langweilig, obwohl ich den Manga nicht lese. Glaube kaum, dass das dem Zuschauer irgendwelche Blicke in unterschiedliche Schlüsselpunkte gewährleisten soll. Vielmehr gehts wieder ums strecken, weil der Anime so nah am Manga ist. Mir reicht z.B., dass sie es an einer Stellle zeigen (zur Visualisierung) und dann eine Nachrichtübertragung zeigen, die klar sagt, dass der Käfig sich aus allen Himmelsrichtungen zusammenzieht. Das würde nur 1/3 der Zeit verschlingen, die man damit verbracht hat. Ansonsten war die Folge aber gut und deutlich besser als letzte Woche. Man merkt halt, das es aufs Ende zugeht.

Ich wünschte einfach mal, ein Studie wie Madhouse würde sich mal einem One Piece finale eines Chapters annehmen. Das würde so episch aussehen wenn Ruffy/Mingo in dem Animationsstil miteinander kämpfen würden. :o

Ist aber nicht One Piece exklusiv sondern eben Toei, Dragonball, Naruto und so sind da keine Ausnahme^^

Also die Animationen von OP waren sicherlich nie auf einem Kurzzeit Anime Niveau, aber sie waren mit Sicherheit schonmal deutlich besser. Schau dir mal folgende Kämpfe an und vergleich das mit Luffy vs. Hordy, vs. Caesar und vs. Mingo...

Ein "einfacher" Vorkampf. Das hier ist besser als alle der drei oben genannten Kämpfe, die ja eigentlich den Abschluss einer Arc darstellen sollten und somit der Höhepunkt sind. Was besonders bemerkenswert ist, sind auch die eingeblendeten Gedanken, die die Charaktere immer haben. Dadurch wird dem Kampf mehr Tiefe verliehen. Die heutigen Kämpfe sind einfach nur noch "OMG ich bin so wütend und renn blind auf den Gegner los" und das kombiniert mit schlechte Animationen. Eine Animation in heutigen Folgen sieht folgendermaßen aus:

- Entweder man sieht 5 mal den selben Angriff hintereinander (das Bildmaterial wird also nur wiederholt und im bestfall gespiegelt)
- Oder ein Charakter setzt zum Angriff an, dann kommt ein schwarzer Bildschirm mit farbigen Strichen die durch den Bildschirm huschen und anschließend sieht man die Charaktere ein paar Sekunden später und einer fällt um.

Ein 37 Minuten Kampf der vollgepackt ist mit verschiedenen Moves und Bewegungen. Natürlich gibts auch hier und da eine schwache Szene, aber alles in allem steckt hier deutlich mehr Liebe zum Detail. Vor allem wie die Giganto-Attacke von Luffy in Szenen gesetzt sind, ist echt großartig.

Simple 2 Minuten von einem Vorkampf, die mehr unterhalten als das, was man bei aktuellsten Arcs sieht.

Damals also die erste Hälfte war noch viel besser gemacht. Bin da nicht so empfindlich wie andere und kann eh nichts mit den Animationen erkennen, aber die früheren Kämpfe waren definitiv besser dargestellt.

Also mir wäre es lieber, sie bringen Filler, die losgelöst sind von der Mainstory. Diese kann ich dann anschauen oder ignorieren. Es ist dann letztendlich mir überlassen. Und nach 3-6 Monaten Filler, bringen sie dann halt die nächsten Arc in gutem Pacing und guter Qualität raus. Ich mein, derzeit bin ich 80% der Zeit, wo ich OP schaue, mehr genervt als unterhalten. Ständig denkt man sich "Ja jetzt schlag doch endlich zu" oder "Ja, ist ja gut mit dem Flashback...". Nimmt ja schon Dragonball Verhältnisse an.

Luffy to Appear Before ‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’

The One Piece Film: Gold sneak peak has revealed that a special One Piece-related video will show at the premiere of Star Wars: The Force Awakens when it releases in Japanese theaters on Dec. 18. While it is unclear whether this “video” will be a mini-segment before the film or a short promotional clip, one thing is for certain: One Piece will be there to support Star Wars!

This news is especially significant considering that Jump Festa 2016 kicks off the very next day on Dec. 19, where we may get a first look at One Piece Film: Gold. As announced earlier, One Piece Film: Gold will hit Japanese theaters on July 23, 2016 with series creator Eiichiro Oda as an executive producer.

Fuji TV aired on Sunday a new commercial for the One Piece ~Adventure of Nevlandia~ special that will air on Saturday. The video previews Namie Amuro's theme song "Black Make Up."

The special with a completely original story will take place on a "Devil Fruit blocking" fog island in the New World that keeps Devil Fruit users from being able to use their powers. The Straw Hat crew will also again meet and have a rematch with the Foxy Pirates from the Davy Back Fight arc. Foxy now has three new subordinates: Dōjack, Kanshō, and Kōmei.

Kōmei devises a plan where Zoro and Sanji take part in an eating contest, and the two eat a strange "good-for-nothing-only" mushroom that turns them into good-for-nothing men. The two are then locked in a jail cell. When the rest of the Straw Hat Pirates chase after their imprisoned crew, they land on the island of Nevlandia, which features a mysterious fog made from sea water, and it has the same effects as seastone. The Straw Hat Pirates' arrival on Nevlandia is also a part of Kōmei's plan.

Ichikawa Ennosuke IV, who played Luffy in the One Piece kabuki play, is guest starring as Kōmei in the winter television special. Kōmei is a member of a family of genius tacticians and one of the new subordinates in the Foxy Pirates. Actor Hōka Kinoshita (Solomon's Perjury, The Parasite Doctor Suzune: Genesis x Evolution) is playing Kanshō, and Team Nacs theatrical play unit member Takuma Otoo (Howl's Moving Castle, When Marnie Was There) is playing Dōjack.

Kônosuke Uda (One Piece episodes 1-278, One Piece: Dead End, One Piece: Mega Mecha Soldier of Karakuri Castle) is directing the special. Namie Amuro (One Piece opening 14) is performing the theme song "Black Make Up."

The special will air on December 19 from 9:00 p.m. to 11:10 p.m. on Fuji TV, and the end of the special will feature an "important announcement."

The previous TV special, One Piece Episode of Sabo, aired on August 22. The first 2016 issue of Weekly Shonen Jump magazine also revealed on Monday that the 13th One Piece film is titled One Piece Film Gold, and it will open in Japan on July 23.

‘One Piece’ Episode 725 Title, Air Date Announced (Spoilers!)

Following up last week’s Newtype announcement, a new title and air date for episode 725 of the One Piece anime has been unveiled. (I know we’re late, sorry!).

While it is yet to be confirmed, the episode title for 725 suggests that it will most likely cover some of the content from chapter 783 of the One Piece manga, which concludes with a fierce Luffy revealing his Gear Four for the first time.

The One Piece anime will take a short break for New Year’s on Jan. 3, 2016.

Please support One Piece by supporting its official releases. One Piece anime fans can start by purchasing the big box sets that were recently released, containing episodes 1–299. Following that, fans can purchase the 13th and 14th installments of the One Piece collection sets. Last but not least, the remaining episodes including episodes 349–433 are available on the One Piece voyage sets, and 434–445 are scheduled to release on January 26, 2016.

One Piece Goes to See Star Wars: The Force Awakens

Star Wars: The Force Awakens opened yesterday in Hollywood to much fanfare. The Straw Hat Pirates also showed support for the premiere in official artwork of the crew cosplaying as characters from the sci-fi franchise. The tie-in was due to a a special trailer for One Piece Film Gold that will screen prior to the Japanese premiere on Friday. Advanced tickets for One Piece Film Gold are also going on sale that day.

Sanji as Han Solo, Nico Robin as Princess Leia, Nami as Princess Leia (Slave Bikini ver.), Brook as C3PO, Usopp as Darth Vader, Tony Tony Chopper as Yoda, and Franky as Chewbacca. Zoro and Luffy appear to be Jedi, probably Luke Skywalker and Obi-Wan Kenobi.

One Piece Film Gold will open next summer with director Hiroaki Miyamoto. Eiichiro Oda will serve as the film's executive producer as well as being credited with the original work. Oda also served as the executive producer for the previous film in the franchise, One Piece Film Z.

‘One Piece Film: Gold’ Eiichiro Oda Comments and New Details About Possible Antagonist

On Dec. 18, advance ticket sales for the upcoming One Piece Film: Gold became available in Japan. Those who purchased their tickets in advance received a limited edition golden file folder of Luffy in his new costume for the upcoming movie, drawn by One Piece author Eiichiro Oda himself. Some people who purchased their tickets also received a booklet containing comments from Oda and One Piece Film: Gold writer Tsutomu Kuroiwa, as well as the movie’s director, Hiroaki Miyamoto.

In the background of the flyer, there are also some images of what would most likely be the main antagonist of the movie with comments including that he’s got a “generally pink ensemble” with a “light pink rose” attached to his jacket and sunglasses with winged rims.

One Piece Film: Gold, One Piece Film GoldThe name Gild Tesoro (ギルド・テゾーロ – Tesoro is Spanish for “treasure” and Gild might come from the word “gilding” or potentially written as “Guild”) may be the potential antagonist’s name or — if the picture is revealed to be only part of a set like the “Neo Marines” in One Piece Film: Z — the antagonist group’s name (and then “Guild” would be the more likely spelling).

The text on the sides says “The souls of men will bring about legends!”

The image (as seen in the tweet above from One Piece mega fan One Piece-kun) also includes a huge stack of papers, presumably all drawings made by Oda. If this is the case, it explains the enormous amount of work that he put into this movie, and also helps explain the more frequent manga breaks over the last few months.

So, without further ado, here are the translated comments of Eiichiro Oda, Tsutomu Kuroiwa and Hiroaki Miyamoto:

My goal was to make a profoundly entertaining movie that would knock the socks off people from all over the world. At times, we worked on the movie during takoyaki parties and barbecues, and it was as if I’d hopped onto a ship and ventured on a great voyage. FUNimation to Stream ‘One Piece: Adventure of Nebulandia’

FUNimation is giving One Piece fans an early gift for the holidays. The new special One Piece – Adventure oScreen Shot 2015-11-08 at 8.12.18 PMf Nebulandia will stream the same night it airs in Japan.

The two-hour special will be simulcast on Dec. 20, though some technical issues should be expected. A specific time for the simulcast has not been revealed, but the special is airing in Japan from from 9:00 p.m. to 11:10 p.m. with the simulcast airing directly after. You can watch Foxy’s new adventure on FUNimation’s website or the official One Piece website.

The special stars the ever popular Foxy the Silver Fox in a new adventure centered around those lousy Straw Hat Pirates. Some new crew mates join the fray against the Straw Hats on a mysterious island with a Devil Fruit disabling fog. Watch the special to find out how Foxy outwits that ever devious Straw Hat Luffy in an all new Davy Back Fight!

A new trailer was recently released, along with comments from the new cast members regarding their role as Foxy’s new crew members. One of the actors is En’nosuke Ichikawa, the main actor for One Piece Super Kabuki II. Ichikawa will be playing Komei, a genius tactician who’s got a plan to annihilate our protagonists once and for all.

The theme for the special is Black Make Up performed by Namie Amuro, who was also the singer for Fight Together, the fourteenth opening song of the anime.

You should tune in for the entire special because there will be an announcement directly afterwards. There was a similar announcement after the special One Piece – Episode of Sabo, teasing the new One Piece film coming in 2016.

New Characters and Setting for ‘One Piece Film: Gold’ Revealed

The Japanese Weekly Shonen Jump double Issue 5-6, revealed more information about the upcoming One Piece Film: Gold’s (most likely) main antagonist and his starlit crew.

As you can see from the image above, Gild Tesoro seems to have a bunch of crewmates who all share one big similarity: stars. Tesoro and the four crewmates’ character design sheets were drawn by One Piece creator Eiichirô Oda himself, and all four seem to have a star in either the form of a tattoo (top left), hairpin (lower left), or clothing motif (top right and bottom right).

“What darkness hides in the Gold’s shadows?
The shining stage, the loud cheers. Luffy and the others decide to head on next to the ship that is also an enormous ‘city,’ a place overwhelmed by a maelstrom of both excitement and enchantment: the world’s biggest city of entertainment. A city managed by a man called Tesoro.”

Gild Tesoro:
“The Super First Class entertainer who has the world’s biggest city of entertainment under his thumb. He looks like he knows what he’s doing, but what hides behind that smile of his? “

Furthermore, we are also given a glimpse of what is supposed to be the setting for the upcoming movie: a giant ship.

“The inside of the ship is built like a city and it’s even been acknowledged by the World Government as an independent state.”

The blurb on the page also mentions that this “moving country of dreams” boasts a total length of 10 kilometres! The city reminds me personally of a giant casino, what with its green-felted backyard and the roulette wheel shaped wall

One Piece Anime Animator Notes

Since early 2015, we at The One Piece Podcast have started working behind the screens with One Piece super fan and collector Le Dok’ over at One Piece Passion. We have looked through some of his collection of One Piece anime resources including animation notes, background drawings, and more, and translated some of these documents.

Without further ado, here are some of the cool finds we found while working on this side project together with Le Dok’!

As you can see on this translated animation memo, the One Piece animators seem to be very reliant on certain SBS answers to get some more information on parts of One Piece chapters for upcoming anime episodes.

With the lack of details provided in certain backgrounds in the One Piece manga, it seems like a lot of the settings are up to the animators’ own guesswork. Ultimately it seems like their supervisor is still the one who decides on the final look of the backgrounds. Because the anime is so close to the manga, they also need to keep their options open in case One Piece author Eiichiro Oda decides to bring out a deus ex machina, in this case, maybe have something appear from beneath the Corrida Colosseum.

Another problem that animators seem to encounter is text. While some text is not readable in the manga, the anime needs to often fill in the gaps due to its presentation in high definition. If you were wondering how the final product, here is a screenshot of Kyros’ statue’s engraving:

A similar problems arises here.

When watching the One Piece anime you can make out the text of a lot of the signs in the background. Because a lot of this is reused imagery, it seems like they try to often obscure the text so they can reuse it later on in other scenes.

This final image concerns the biggest mystery of One Piece telecommunications: Transponder Snails. How do they work? What can they exactly do? Nobody knows exactly, and animators are just as confused as to how they work. The anime has a lot more potential close-ups of Transponder Snails, so getting the whole transformation mechanics just right seems really important for the anime. Honestly, I’m still not sure I understand…
