Make no mistake though, this is still a highly impressive port – and more importantly, it’s a vast improvement over the original game.
While the PS3 and 360 versions targeted a locked 30 frames performance while rendering the game at a resolution of 720p, sections like the infamous
Blighttown dragged the game’s performance down to unplayable levels.
Thankfully though, Dark Souls on Switch makes this once frustratingly poor performance a thing of the past.Aside from some (not all) of the textures being upgraded, upping the resolution was always just going to be an upscale anyway. You’re not missing out on anything at 720p. It’d be nice to have 60 frames per second, but
it’s far more important that the game runs smoothly, which it does.
