http://kotaku.com/5324084/ninja-gaiden-sigma-2-dated-and-detailed-for-americaTecmo has announced a late September release date for the PlayStation 3-exclusive Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2, with a limited edition available at GameStop for those of you with excess monies.
North America is beating Japan to the punch by a whole two days, with a release date of September 29th as opposed to Japan's October 1st. North American players who preorder the game from GameStop can spend the extra two days pouring over the 80-page that comes with the Collectors Edition of the game, if they're willing to part with an extra $10. $69.99 nets you a copy of the game along with the special book, which contains a 30-page print version of the in-game digital comic, a mini-strategy guide, some artwork, and commentary from Team NINJA producer Yosuke Hayashi and the team's lead artists.
Those who preorder the game from GameStop will also gain access to a special costume for Ryu, the character least likely to be played in Sigma 2, with three sexy female fighters up for grabs in the form of Rachel, Ayane, and Momiji.
So give us your thoughts! Will you be paying an extra tenner for the book, or is the game good enough on its own?
Rest hier:The 7 minute (not final, but already pretty quick!) mandatory install was over before I had even finished the comic panels.
Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2 has apparently integrated an adaptive A.I. system that scales with the skill level of the player. The harder I fought, the harder the enemies worked to stop my gore-slinging assault. Once the ninjas with the claws came out I found that I had less difficulty dealing with them than I had dealing with them on the Xbox 360.
The levels I got to play with them were fairly short, but already they felt like they could be useful additions to the story, not just Ryu replacement palette swaps.
There is also a new weapon upgrade system in place, and while this demo doesn’t reveal how that system works, I’m sure it has to do with spending Karma collected through kills. Your move list reveals that you have an expanded attack set with each level, so ramping up a good variety of your tools is crucial to success. One of the best innovations is the ability to switch weapons without hitting your menu system. By simply tapping up on the D-Pad you can change between all of your melee and ranged weapons, ninja magic, and items.
While the game isn’t quite gold and final yet, it already looks and sounds gorgeous. Making full use of the 1080p power of the PlayStation 3, as well as the 5.1 surround sound of my stereo system, the game rivals some of the best titles on the platform. Even when there were two high-polygon main characters on screen (Ryu, and another Ryu, for instance) during multiplayer, the framerate was rock solid. Team Ninja is hard at work to keep this one as smooth as silk.
This is not a one man show, so if you or your partner dies, it’s game over - there are no lone ninja saves the day’ moments here. If your partner is down, you have a limited amount of time to revive them by spamming the O button
