Original von Lance Uppercut
I know it's blasphemy to speak wrong of Motor Storm on this board and don't get me wrong, it's a great game. The graphics of the new tracks are AWESOME, the mud pits, the spectacular scenery, and the frame-rate is super smooth.
I knew when I bought it that the Japanese version was lacking an on-line mode but after playing for a couple of hours after buying it this morning there were a couple of other things that disappointed me:
1. The lack of options.
When you load up the game it has menu with 3 choices:
Festival - start competing
Movies - watch promo movies of the game
Setup - change the controls (2 choices of setup) and sound
That's it... no 2 player split screen, no difficulty settings, no praticing, no single race, no custom race, no car selection/modifying etc...
So basically all you can do is go to the festival.
2. The lack of replay and other in game features.
The actual racing controls and menus are EXACTLY the same as the demo, which is no bad thing, but I was expecting more? Like a replay feature ala F1 Championship, there is no replay function at all.
3. No inputting your own name?? WTF?
Your name is simply "player", and there is no way to change it... weird.
Overall all it feels like this version of the game is a stripped down, bare bones version, all you can do is compete, that's it... and with no difficulty settings once I finish all the tickets, that's it... no more challenges. Still, what is here of the game is fun and highly playable but I think the Japanese are getting ripped off somewhat.
And please no senseless flaming, I do like the game, just giving you guys a heads-up.
