GameStop Leaks Info On Marvel Vs. Capcom 3 DLC Characters
.. I just.. I can’t put into words how… frustrated I am by this news. I mean, I know Capcom talked about it, but just to see it actually coming–to see that they have planned it out so far ahead already and are basically ripping us all off by not simply putting these
completed characters in the game… this is just too much for me right now. This info comes from over at
GameStop’s page for the Collector’s Edition of
Marvel Vs. Capcom 3 which can now [obviously] be pre-ordered. It says right there in black and white that four weeks after the game comes out, Shuma Gorath and Jill Valentine (Resident Evil 5 version), two
Marvel Vs. Capcom 2 characters, will be [I assume] the first DLC characters for
Marvel Vs. Capcom 3.
Just in case GameStop decides to pull that info down, I’ve placed my full screenshot of the site’s image for the collector’s edition contents after the jump along with my gripes about this decision Capcom has made about how to handle
MvC3.
Yeah, I guess I’m excited that the currently semi-disappointing roster is going to be expanded with more interesting characters, and the possibility of Phoenix Wright making it into the game is once again in the mix; but at the same time I am absolutely furious that Capcom is really going to do this. I
hate DLC. I absolutely
loathe it. Especially in fighting games. Why? Because it is almost never handled in an appropriate way. There’s either too little content for too much money, or too much money for absurd content (like $5 for
Street Fighter IV costumes. That’s a
dollar each).
The fact that these characters are already done obviously means others are also prepped for DLC, which therein means that Capcom has planned everything out and already probably has the game balanced for the additional fighters. I simply cannot stand the fact that Capcom is really going to milk more money out of fans this way. Granted, nobody is being forced to buy these characters (I know I sure as hell don’t use Shuma Gorath), but this is still just a horrible thing to do to fans.
It’s like they’re deliberately putting in weak roster additions that aren’t even unique characters (I’m looking at you female Hulk and female Wolverine. You have unique movesets, but you just don’t stand out) just so they can put the characters the fans really want in DLC packs. I’m sure many will jump for joy over this decision, and I’m sure I’ll probably cave in and buy some of the new characters when they come out despite how upset I am over this news now. All I guess I can hope for now is that they’ll be released at a reasonable price and separately… oh who am I kidding? This is Capcom. I should just prepare my wallet for the rape now.
