Nintendo's managing director Yoshihiro Mori has confirmed that production of the original GameBoy Advance has stopped. Reportedly, Nintendo has shifted production to focus on their redesigned GameBoy Advance SP model. Quoting director Mori-san, "Production of the original GameBoy Advance model is based on orders we receive because of our switch to the SP model."

In associated news, Nintendo plans to introduce their GameBoy Advance platform in mainland China beginning later this year. Details regarding its pricing and associated software lineup in the region remain undisclosed.

Simultaneously, Nintendo is preparing to begin production of their new handheld platform "Nintendo DS" which is scheduled for release this fall in North America and Japan.
