PSU schrieb:New Heavenly Sword details
Straight from the beat that is Sony Gamer's Day, we've got the newest Heavenly Sword details for you.
The life clock is no more. It will still remain an important part of the storytelling, but from initial focus tests Ninja Theory found that people found the life clock too restricting, limiting gameplay opportunities.
The entire game is a flashback, with Nariko dying at the beginning. You as the player must play the days before her death to change her fate. Remember the original God of War? Yeah, something like that.
The graphics are gorgeous (obviously). From Nariko herself to environments and animations, everything about Heavenly Sword looked far more polished at Gamer's Day than at its previous E3 showing (almost a year ago).
Heavenly Sword will take advantage of a "reactive music system." This essentially means that the music will change depending on the moves the player is performing and how well they are doing. It probably won't be noticed too much during gameplay, but it's just one of the many things about Heavenly Sword that simply seeks to immerse you.
We'll have more details about Heavenly Sword for you when they become available closer to its Fall '07 release window.

Das freut mich! The life clock is no more. It will still remain an important part of the storytelling, but from initial focus tests Ninja Theory found that people found the life clock too restricting, limiting gameplay opportunities.
Wäre auch zu lästig gewesen. So muss das sein! The graphics are gorgeous (obviously). From Nariko herself to environments and animations, everything about Heavenly Sword looked far more polished at Gamer's Day than at its previous E3 showing (almost a year ago).

Heavenly Sword Beta stage/Demo
However if you take the PSN demo we are currently doing, then we have a separate team (borrowed from Sony Cambridge) who are doing the work to make it a stand alone demo while the NT team are working on Beta. Theres still work for the main team fixing bugs and balancing but its much less than full time
After a recent article a Ninja Theory developer took some time to answer some questions, they are now working towards beta stage and the demo is being put together.
He also had this to say on loading times:
Essentially our basic load structure, is that at the beginning of each chapter we have a introductory cut scene, while thats happening we are also caching data from blu-ray to hard disk. This way when we actually are streaming while you play we can use both sources at the same time.
You should only see loading at the beginning of a chapter, all the rest is async loaded in the background. Of course ironing out the stutters and load pauses is one of the things we are working on at the moment
Were currently adding the transitions between cutscene and ninja sequences (our name for interactive cutscenes) and the main game. The camera should smoothly switch between them when weve finished
He also had this to say on wether Heavenly Sword may be to easy from the footage people have seen when asked he replyed
Balancing a game like HS isnt easy
As a counter point I know of at least two bugs in the bug db that without a cheat its impossible to complete some sections
Theres a formation system that tell the enemies when to attack and what grombo (group combo move) to do. That has simply been turned way down for the demos I suspect.
By the time it ships it should be the right level of difficulty.
He was also asked: If your allowed to answer .what percent of power/potential would you say that Heavenly Sword uses of the SPUs?
Insomniac stated they used less then 20% of their potential for Resistance.
And tbh completely honest, havent checked You only really have to know stats like this when your bottlenecked and we arent by the SPUs at all so
So there you go a few interesting tidbits from what seems to be a great programmer for PS3's Heavenly Sword...
