ClockStone Software develops Vampires Dawn for Nintendo DS

Innsbruck, December 10, 2008. Wicked black humor, a dark and sinister setting, an elaborate magic and fight system – these are just some of the elements that make the RPG series Vampires Dawn such a hit. Now, the Austrian development studio ClockStone – best known for their action-RPG Avencast – is planning a
Nintendo DS version of the award-winning series. For this project, they will be working with Vampires Dawn creator Dawnatic and the Munich-based production company remote control productions.

Game designer Tri Do Dinh is crazy about Vampires Dawn: “It’s incredibly fun to play a villainous vampire who strikes fear into the heart of the villagers in a humorous and very entertaining way. The character controls and the mechanics of the puzzles will transfer easily to DS.” CEO Michael Schiestl adds: “Our team learned a lot about the RPG genre when we were working on Avencast. We’re highly motivated to continue our work in this area and to increase our involvement in the handheld sector.”

I understand why the case has an open spot for the camera, but I want the camera eye protected the most! I’d rather just slide the DSi out of its shell to take pictures.

PlayV brings language to the Nintendo DS with ‘Mind Your Language’

thumb_myl.jpg

PlayV, the UK-based publishing venture co-funded by V2.Play and Playlogic, has announced that its suite of language tuition titles for Nintendo DS will be released in February 2009. On the shelves from 13th February and with full accreditation from international language school Inlingua, Mind Your Language revolutionises language tuition by constructing a detailed and fun-filled adventure in which the player learns interactively through exploration and mini-games.

Mind Your Language puts players in the shoes of a user-customisable schoolchild at a language school. With versions for Spanish, French, German and Japanese, the game is arranged into four levels of increasing difficulty, with each language taught from the bottom-up. This elemental approach provides a full and complete understanding of written and vocal language to a standard beyond that possible with ‘parrot-fashion’ learning aids. As the player progresses, they amass a huge dictionary covering every facet of each language, and with each word represented in text and spoken aloud, Mind Your Language provides a remarkably accessible means of learning without resorting to phrase books or rote learning. Targeted predominantly at young learners, the inclusive and accessible nature of Mind Your Language’s approach makes it the ideal learning aid for students of any age, as well as providing an excellent method for parent/child co-operative learning.

Brian Faller, marketing manager, PlayV comments: “We’re really proud to be launching Mind Your Language on Nintendo DS. As a language learning aid, its unique approach is a breath of fresh air compared to existing titles, which rely too much on the Brain Training or phrase book templates. Mind Your Language does something other methods can’t match – it makes learning language genuinely fun for anyone, no matter how young or old.”

Mind Your Language will be available to buy in Spanish, French, German and Japanese for Nintendo DS on 13th February 2009.
