IGN schrieb:Through some truly innovative and groundbreaking techniques, Ubisoft has managed to provide a truly 3D world that pushes 20,000 more polygons than the majority of PS2 games. Rather than using normal mapping for the PS2, Ubisoft found a way to push 3D meshes through what is traditionally a 2D pipeline to create a world that has actual depth. When coupled with smart use of specular highlighting, objects appear incredibly realistic. There are instances where the PS2 version of Chaos Theory actually looks better than the Xbox.
Particularly impressive is the way shadows bend properly on complex objects. The water physics are also fantastic, so good, in fact, that Ubisoft created an exclusive PS2 kill move for Sam Fisher. In the demo, Sam was chilling, wading in a large Jacuzzi, hidden in darkness. When the enemy approached the edge, Sam grabbed him and pulled him into the Jacuzzi and then forced his head underwater. The mercenary thrashed for a moment, then was dead.
