- Game is playable from start to finish including side content

- Landing the Highwind anywhere is tough to pull off so they decided on parachuting in.
- You get the Highwind quite early in the game
- You can fly around the entire world freely
- If you reach the end of the world you end up on the other side like a globe.
- All areas return from Rebirth, including Gongaga but won't be exactly the same
- You have a single Chocobo companion that levels up
- Main story is order is predetermined, but not the side content
- You can explore the entire map once you get the Highwind
- Open world scale has leveled up from Rebirth
- Vincent can switch between Beast mode and normal mode at the press of a button
- Cid specializes in aerial combat
- More combination attacks between different characters
- New "FITS" system allows characters to change jobs, such as "Black Mage", with new outfits.
- All FITS are unlocked from the start
- There are 4 FITS for each character
- FITS have a skill tree
- Key concept for the game is "Resolve"
- Cloud and co resolve the face the final battle
- The devs resolve to conclude the FF7 Remake series well
- Zack will be a more important part of the game than in Rebirth

Naoki Hamaguchi erklärt, dass das Entwicklerteam keinesfalls plant, die Anzahl der Minispiele in FF7 Revelation zu reduzieren, den Spielern jedoch mehr Auswahlmöglichkeiten bieten möchte.
Er betont, dass bereits das Originalspiel viele Minispiele enthielt und man diesen Aspekt nicht verändern wolle. Stattdessen soll das Gameplay der Minispiele so angepasst werden, dass sie weniger frustrierend und insgesamt zugänglicher gestaltet sind.
Die Minispiele werden sowohl einen leichten als auch einen normalen Schwierigkeitsgrad bieten. Außerdem wird es die Möglichkeit geben, bestimmte Minispiele zu überspringen. Belohnungen, die an Minispiele gekoppelt sind, werden beispielsweise neue Outfits bzw. Skins für die Charaktere sein.
Außerdem bestätigt Hamaguchi, dass das Ohrfeigen-Minispiel zwischen Scarlet und Tifa definitiv im Spiel enthalten sein wird.
