Neues Interview mit Denis Dyack :):

http://www.gamasutra.com/view/feature/3568/a_human_work_denis_dyack_on_what_.php

How are things going now? I mean, you say that you're coming out of the dark here, so...

Denis Dyack: I feel that, in general, from a personal perspective -- both internally, and people who've worked on the project -- feel extraordinarily good about Too Human. And I think the overarching, real hurdle is going to be what you guys [the media] think about it.

And my opening [when I demo it] is really going to be: Let's forget about the stuff from the past, and judge the game for what it is. Look at it fairly from that perspective. And I feel if that happens, we're OK.

You know, if it doesn't, we're just going to live with it; but I'm just, sort of from a personal perspective on where the game has come, I'm still happy with it. I think it's great. I think it's gone beyond all our expectations and it's more than I wanted it to be in some ways.

........

What would happen -- I mean I'm sure you don't want to think about it, but you probably have -- what would happen if it winds up not being commercially successful.

DD: Bad things. You know, I've got a sort of samurai mentality on some level. Just sort of the Bushido code. One of the main tenants is: Prepare yourself for death. And if you don't fear death, then you don't have to worry about it, you don't concentrate on it.

So I think with this industry, that's pretty important. You know, if I worried about dying every day, I'd be all-consumed. Because there are so many things, and so many problems that could occur. And I don't want to concentrate on that goal. I don't want to be distracted by some negative possibility when I can focus on the positive. So, yeah, it would be really, really bad, and in some sense... Would it kill us? I don't know. We'd probably recover.

But Silicon Knights, our track record, if you look at our past products -- we go way back, and a lot of people don't know some of them, but -- we have no skeletons in our closet. I wish everyone knew all about the stuff that we've done in the past, but you look at Legacy of Kain, you look at Eternal Darkness, you look at Metal Gear.

All different experiences, but those are all things that we stand behind totally. And Too Human is going to be another one. We wouldn't let it out until then. It's real tough, though. It's real tough. It's not an easy process.

Besonders das Fett gedruckte ist sehr geil 8)

We have a theme, so the theme of the first game is discovery, the theme of the second game is revenge, the theme of the third game is enlightenment. And each game itself is encapsulated as a story, so there are no big cliffhangers, of, "Oh my God, Batman, what's going to happen next?" We're very specific in that, because I hate those kind of endings. I think anything like that, really, is a disservice to the gamer.

pff SE ....ich will ne ultimative Collectors Edition mit Figur, Aufstellpanorama, Poster usw. O_o

NGalaxyEric: Thank you for doing this interview with us, Mr. Dyack. Could you explain a little bit of what Too Human is about?

Denis Dyack: In “Too Human”, you play as the cybernetic god Baldur, who has been charged with the defense of mankind against an army of machines set on destroying the human race. It is a retelling of Norse mythology, where you are always being told that you are “Too Human” and you need to cybernetically enhance yourself to fight the growing machine menace.

NGEric: How did Silicon Knights originally come up with the idea for Too Human?

DD: The idea of the game was inspired by the affects of technology on society that I explored while doing my Masters Thesis in Computer Science. We wanted to create a game that spoke to the affects of technology in a way that would not only resonate to gamers, but also be easily digestible. In the end, we wanted gamers to question whether technology is always better for us.

NGEric: Too Human has been in development for a while. Can you explain why the game wasn't released for the Playstation or Gamecube as originally planned?

DD: The PlayStation version of “Too Human” was never completed because during the development of that game we became an exclusive second party of Nintendo and all of our PlayStation development was stopped. We had intended to bring “Too Human” to the GameCube (we even did a technology prototype), but we were too busy with “Eternal Darkness” and then later “Metal Gear Solid: Twin Snakes” to work on it. When were ready to start back on “Too Human”, it happened to be at the same time that Nintendo and Silicon Knights decided to mutually end our exclusivity.

NGEric: Why did Silicon Knights finally choose to partner with Microsoft, and release Too Human on the XBOX 360?

DD: Ken Lobb was always a fan of “Too Human” during his Nintendo days, and when he heard we had ended our exclusive relationship with Nintendo he inquired into its availability immediately. The rest is history.

NGEric: Too Human is currently planned as a trilogy. Do you think that all three games will be released on the XBOX 360, or will you hold off to see what the next generation of gaming consoles brings?

DD: Yes, they are planned to all release on the Xbox 360.

NGEric: Silicon Knights has worked on many platforms over the years, and with many different companies. Do you notice and differences between working with Microsoft, Sony, and Nintendo?

DD: Yes, there are big differences between each company. The differences vary from both western and eastern perspectives to the number of people each group assigns to a project. All are great partners.

NGEric: Many gamers were fans of your Gamecube title, Eternal Darkness: Sanity's Requiem. Would you ever consider working with Nintendo on a sequel, perhaps for Wii?

DD: Yes. We get asked about a sequel to ED almost every day, and of course we would always consider doing a sequel.

NGEric: After Too Human, will you immediately begin work on Too Human 2, or are you working on any other projects?

DD: The team is extremely focused on completing “Too Human” right now, so we don’t have any info to share on future installments in the trilogy. We also have a separate team that is working on a project for SEGA that has been underway for some time now.

NGEric: Finally, can you give us a quick opinion about why Too Human is a must have game for 360 gamers?

DD: “Too Human” is a pure fusion between the action and RPG genres. It is a game that gamers often mistake to be like “Devil May Cry”, but in reality it plays more like “Diablo”. This unique fusion is set apart further by the game’s content-driven storyline that seamlessly weaves into the game with no load times. We feel it is a console experience like no other, and Nintendo fans will recognize in “Too Human” some of the qualities that set “Eternal Darkness” apart on the GameCube.

Und noch etwas zum Release des Spiels:

"Crispy Gamer: Have you come up with an official release date yet?

Dyack: We have a release date. We're probably going to make it official shortly. We can't say when that date is yet. It's coming. It's not too far off."

Möge es doch bitte schon Ende Mai kommen :scan:

(aber ich gehe doch lieber von spätestens September aus ... leider ;)).
