und ich denke das beim nachfolger der 360er die hw auch wieder viel besser sein wird, wie eben bei der xbox.

Ich glaube wenn sie 2x hintereinander eine Konsole mit einer RoD-like Fehlerquote auf den Markt werfen die den Anwender jahrelang terrorisiert hätten sie langfristig ein ernstes Problem. Die ersten 2 Jahre sind die wichtigsten, auch wenn danach erst die meisten Konsolen verkauft werden so legt man das zukünftige Potenzial der Konsole schon relativ früh fest.

Naja, aber ich glaube auch nicht, dass MS wieder gerne eine Milliarde zur Seite legt, um einen Hardware-Fehler zu kompensieren. Auch wenn die Geld ohne Ende haben, werden die wohl aus dem ROD gelernt haben und dieses Mal zwei Mal hinschauen.

Jetzt kommt es noch drauf an, ob MS mit den wohl ziemlich gut laufenden Weihnachtsverkäufen in den USA wirklich schon gute Gewinne macht - dann schaffen die in dieser Gen vielleicht tatsächlich einen insgesamten Gewinn.

How the Xbox 360 beat the PS3 on Black Friday

Microsoft sent out a press release claiming that the Xbox 360 outsold the PS3 three-to-one over Black Friday weekend. Black Friday is the time of the year in the United States where bargain hunters go out to find the best deal possible. Even though the Xbox 360 didn’t receive any discounts on Black Friday, people still flocked to the console.

Ever since the Xbox 360 received a price cut in September, the system has been pulling away from the PS3 in terms of monthly sales. Prior to that, the PS3 had sold the most units for the year. This definitely shows how much price resonates with the consumers. Did Microsoft foresee the economic downturn in its glass crystal ball earlier in the year?

The humorous part about the whole Black Friday event was that none of the Xbox 360 models sold for less than what they normally do. However, with slick advertisements indicating a free game (you probably wouldn’t buy) for good measures, unassuming consumers flocked to it like the Wii. The PS3 also had a similar deal where you could get a free game from most retailers. Although, I’m sure that the lower priced $199 Xbox 360 Arcade looked more appealing to the average bargain hunter then the $399 PS3.

Most hardcore gamers will probably be shaking their heads knowing how much of a scam the Arcade model is, but you have to admit that model is the ultimate Trojan horse. Parents swoop down on the Arcade model thinking how great the price is, to only find out later that it’s a bottomless money pit.

Microsoft has really done a great job of working with various retailers this holiday weekend. I haven’t seen practically any advertisements from Sony’s camp. Could they have fallen asleep or maybe Sony is putting all of its stock into Christmas?

Regardless, if Sony doesn’t drop the price of the PS3, the console could have a very difficult time catching up to Microsoft. On a side note, I did manage to snatch up a 640GB hard drive from Staples for $69, by waltzing in around 5 p.m. Did any of our readers have any luck during Black Friday?

die entwicklungskosten sind logischerweise im zeitraum vor dem launch der 360er angefallen und somit bei den von mir geposteten zahlen nicht inkludiert.

Wie schon gesagt wurde interessiert es heute keinen mehr was vor 5 oder 6 Jahren für Verluste gemacht wurden. Entscheident ist dass aktuell regelmäßig schwarze Zahlen geschrieben werden.

MS interessiert es auch nicht, oder? Sie sind immernoch paar Milliarden im Minus und das heißt bis jetzt hat die Konsolensparte ihnen nichts (außer Verluste) gebracht. Erst wenn sie wieder bei +/- 0 sind, können/werden Sie sich freuen, wenn sie Gewinn machen.

Das kommt auf die Bilanzierung an. Forschungskosten muss man eigentlich alle sofort angeben, wenn sie anfallen. Entwicklungskosten kann man teilweise auf mehrere Jahre verteilen.

Ich danke, dass einige Forschungs- und Entwicklungskosten schon vor Launch bilanziert wurden und ein paar danach.

Walmart.com offers "thousands" of Wiis from Monday

NEW YORK (Reuters) - Nintendo Co Ltd's Wii has emerged as one of the few hot products this holiday season, and Wal-Mart Stores Inc will offer "tens of thousands" of the hard-to-get video game consoles on its website starting on Monday.

Walmart.com said it will offer the Nintendo Wii console for $249.24, and a "value bundle," which includes the console and other items like an extra set of controllers, for $329, while supplies last.

The Wii has emerged as one of the most sought-after gifts this holiday season, which has otherwise been lamented for a lack of new and hot products.

On Black Friday, the day after Thanksgiving which marks the start of holiday shopping, the Wii was the most searched-for product on the Yahoo Shopping site. It was also the most popular product on eBay, with 3,171 of the consoles selling for an average price of $349 that day.

As of Friday night, the Wii console was sold out on Walmart.com, bestbuy.com and circuitcity.com. Bestbuy.com listed the sold-out Wii for $249.99.

Walmart.com also said that it will offer, beginning on Monday, certain Wii video games at a price of two for $30, and certain accessories, like the Nintendo Wii Racing Wheel, starting under $10.

Wal-Mart has been gaining market share and clout in the U.S. recession as cash-strapped shoppers seek out its low prices.

On Thursday, it reported a stronger-than-expected 3.4 percent rise in sales at its U.S. stores open at least a year, after it slashed prices on food and toys to lure shoppers.

Walmart.com spokesman Ravi Jariwala said the online retailer has worked with Nintendo closely throughout the year and seen strong sales of Wii products on its website, helping to secure the latest supply of the popular console.
