Xbox 360 Outsells Xbox in Others
Jacob Mazel
In 263 weeks , the original Xbox sold 7,778,961 units in the “Others” region which Vgchartz defines as regions outside the Americas and Japan. As of today, in only 149 weeks, the Xbox 360 has sold 7,854,511 units in the “Others” region. Microsoft cut off Xbox 1 supply prematurely – 7.4m 95% of the final total for Xbox in “Others” - came 197 weeks into the life cycle .
Either way, the Xbox 360 is far out-trending the Xbox in “Others”. To reach 7.854m in 149 weeks, the Xbox 360 has managed to sell nearly 53,000 per week in “Others”. The original Xbox averaged only about 30,000 units per week through the time when the final unit was sold. At the 95% marker of its final tally in “Others”, before supply was cut off prematurely, Xbox 1 averaged about 37,000 units per week. Using either point in the life cycle, Xbox 360 is clearly outselling Xbox.
If Xbox 360 was to keep selling at an average of 53,000 units through 263 weeks, Microsoft would end up selling 13.93m units in “Others”. While Xbox 360 recently has become the cheapest console in Europe, the 53,000 current average will likely hold up – roughly – over the long term because the initially high sales will be offset by the longer time frame of lower sales after the current peak phase concludes.
