Reader Q and A
Developers note: We promised a blog devoted to your questions and here it is. We did our best to answer them all, but we apologize if yours is not included. As always, we love hearing your feedback, so keep those comments coming!
Q: How long will the single-player game be and will there be replay value?
A: It will take an average of 4050 hours to get through the single-player version with all characters, and about 100 hours to experience everything the game has to offer including completion of all quests to gain new abilities. Another thing to consider is that there are three difficulty modes in KUF: CoD, Normal, Hard, and Nightmare. Each will require critical uses of Enhancements and Abilities with strategic acumen. If a player fails to step up their game in the Hard or Nightmare modes they WILL be crushed like a bug. The game automatically starts in Normal mode and players must complete the game to unlock Hard, and complete Hard to unlock Nightmare.
Q: Do the weapons and armor change visually when players change equipment in the game?
A: Each character has 5-6 categories of weapons and six sets of armor that change the characters visually when equipped.
Q: At what FPS rate will the game run?
A: It will run at 30FPS.
Q: Are you going to introduce new characters?
A: Other than the four characters already revealed, there will be two additional playable characters. These soon to be revealed characters will require a radically different approach to game play.
Q: What are the "new" graphical elements implemented in this game?
A: The fully destructible background environments are a new element that we are excited about.
Another cool addition will be the appearance of monsters that crawl/pop out of walls and ceilings. Initially, we wanted to make the monsters much more disgusting and horrifying visually, but we had to draw the line. Someday, however, we WILL make them as nasty as you dare imagine (*insert maniacal overlord-ish laughter*)
Q: I was curious about what engine you guys used for the graphics and physics? Was this an internally developed engine or outsourced?
A: Its an in-house engine. Its officially called the Blueside Engine, but people usually call it the BS Engine, pun intended (or not).
Q: Since this is an RPG, how deep is the story? Is it a focal point of the game development?
A: In KUF: CoD, the story helps progress the game forward, but is not the main focal point of the game. We wanted to focus on the development of equipment and characters, hardened through battling hordes of enemies, so the story is comparatively light. With this in mind, I was free to go a bit wild with the story, hehe. It might feel a bit, errrr, not so gentle
but if you want to read between the lines and delve deeply, you will certainly get some revelations to the ongoing storyline of the KUF world.
Q: Recent screenshots seem to show a bit of jaggies. Will the final game have improved anti-aliasing?
A: We usually capture the screenshots directly from the Xbox dev-kit to the PC, and for some reason they look a bit different from what you would see via a TV screen. You shouldnt see jaggies on your TV
but if you do, please ignore them grin .
Q: Will there be additional downloadable content once the game ships?
A: Absolutely. We are planning to include adornments to coincide with games launch. In KUF: CoD, players will pick a character from a roster of six, creating the possibility that they will see four identical characters in a four-player co-op game. This can be a problem if you want to stand out from the crowd. To solve this, we created adornments that players can put on their character to make him/her look cool and stylish. Look for more details later on the official PDLC release plan.
Q: Is the game combo-based? If so, how many combos are there?
A: There will be an Enhancement called Growth that players can attach to weapons for combo attacks. When you hit enemies with a Growth weapon, combos will be shown on the right side of the screen. Of course, the more consecutive combos you make, the higher each blows damage will be. To do this, youll need to significantly raise the level of Growth itself to actually feel the increased damage of combos. If you have enough SP and your SP recovery rate is fast enough, you will theoretically be able to execute combos indefinitely. We have an Achievement that requires a player to execute 20 combos.
Q: Does each character in the game have unique attacks and powers?
A: Each character uses different weapons and abilities. So while we cant say EVERY attack and power of each character is 100% unique, we can tell you that each character is vastly different. Some rely on stamina, some on magic, and theres even one character that relies on luck.
Q: Will there be platforming elements along the way?
A: Theres nothing planned concerning those types of elements. Sorry.
Q: How many achievements will there be?
A: There will be 32 Achievements in total.
Q: Will there be a pre-release demo of the game on Xbox LIVE?
A: Yes, although were still hashing out final the details.
Q: Will more than one person be able to play on a single Xbox or will multiplayer be on LIVE only?
A: Only one player per console will be able to play.
Q: What is everyone's favorite food? I'm assuming it is mainly Korean food. Lets see if you guys have the same taste as I do. I love kimchi, bulgogi, kimchi jigae, tofu jigae. I have many more.
A: Hmm
well, Im not sure many of us here actually enjoy munching down kimchi, bulgogi, etc. solely for taste, since were used to our own food. We Blueside people tend to wolf down on anything available. We usually consume Korean food for survival, and eat various cuisines from many different cultures.
