Street Fighter 3 Third Strike Online might use GGPO

In a move that might potentially make a lot of fans happy, Capcom seems to be open to using GGPO with Street Fighter 3 Third Strike Online Edition — or at least they're not ruling it out completely.

There was a pretty strong movement to get Street Fighter 4's net play system running GGPO, which is well regarded in the community for it's rollback technology and making online matches seem more like in person play, but there were a few reasons it didn't make it in.

Possibly taking a different turn this time around, Capcom's Yoshinori Ono left a message on his Twitter account saying GGPO might be in the re-release of Third Strike. Also, Christian Svensson followed up with a few brief messages on the Unity Boards clarifying how much longer we'll have to wait for the game and if they're looking for feedback.

All I want in Street Fighter 3 Third Strike Online Edition is GGPO.

Sven: We'll provide more details about the game, its planned features and more in the coming months. It's still pretty far away.
