Neue Screenshots und Details zu Star Ocean 5

Square Enix hat neben neuen Screenshots auch detaillierte Informationen zu Star Ocean: Integrity and Faithlessness veröffentlicht. Im Mittelpunkt steht dabei der neue Support-Charakter Lilia, die den Spieler im Kampf unterstützt, allerdings selbst nicht spielbar sein wird.

Bei Lilia handelt es sich um ein mysteriöses Mädchen, das weder Erinnerungen noch Emotionen besitzt. Sie macht sich mit den Hauptcharakteren auf die Reise, um genau diese wieder zu erlangen. Neben Lilia wurde außerdem das „Private Actions“-System vorgestellt, das sich auf Gespräche mit allen Figuren bezieht, die der Abenteurergruppe auf ihrer Reise begegnen.

Welche Konversationen möglich sind, hängt vom sogenannten „Affection Rating“ ab, wodurch neben Story bedingten Gesprächen bis zu alltäglichem Plaudern auch tiefgreifendere Unterhaltungen entstehen können. Die Beziehung von Partymitgliedern zum Protagonisten, Fidel, spielt unter anderem eine Rolle, aber auch die zwischenmenschliche Ereignisse untereinander können im Verlauf der Geschichte neue „Private Actions“ auslösen. Das „Affection Rating“ beeinflusst nicht nur Konversationen, Events und Kämpfe, sondern wirkt sich auch auf das Ending aus.

Star Ocean 5 wird in Japan am 25. Februar 2016 für die PlayStation 4 und PlayStation 3 veröffentlicht. Nordamerika und Europa dürfen sich 2016 auf die PS4-Version freuen, bisher ist jedoch noch kein Datum bekannt.

PS4/PS3 Exclusive Star Ocean 5 Delayed in Japan To Improve Quality

The new release date, shifted from the original February 25th, is March 31st, 2016. The press release explains that the game is in intensive development, and that reason for the delay is to “achieve a further improvement in quality.”

Star Ocean 5 scan previews Japanese box art

The latest issue of Weekly Jump features a first-look at the box art for Star Ocean: Integrity and Faithlessness in Japan.

The box art is illustrated by Akiman, who did the game’s character designs, and features characters Fidel, Miki, Victor, Fiore, Emerson, Anne, and Lilia.

The magazine also reveals that the theme song is “Astra Nova” by Japanese band Androp. A new trailer featuring the song will be released at Jump Festa 2016.

Star Ocean: Integrity and Faithlessness is due out for PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 3 in Japan on March 31, and for PlayStation 4 in North America in 2016. A news live stream is planned for tomorrow, December 11.

Star Ocean 5 Japanese first-print bonus adds Valkyrie Profile 2 custom BGM

First-print copies of Star Ocean: Integrity and Faithlessness will not only include a product code to download custom background music from Valkyrie Profile, but also from Valkyrie Profile 2, Square Enix announced.

The latest Star Ocean: Integrity and Faithlessness web broadcast showcased 21 minutes of new footage, including our first in-motion look at the game’s Private Actions, as well as the Valkyrie Profile custom battle BGMs included with first-print copies of the game.

Square Enix will host its third Star Ocean: Integrity and Faithlessness broadcast on January 12 at 20:00 JST (3:00 a.m. PT / 6:00 a.m. ET), the company announced.

The broadcast will introduce party skills, as well as the latest gameplay footage.

You’ll be able to watch the stream live on YouTube and Niconico.

Star Ocean 5 Gets Its Latest Footage And Gameplay Adjustments Details

Square Enix recently shared the latest on their upcoming title, Star Ocean: Integrity and Faithlessness, during a live stream for the game. Here’s a look at the entire stream footage and some key info that was discussed. [Thanks, Game Jouhou.]

One of the main new additions is the dash implementation. This lets you walk around on the field by a speed of x1.3, and you’ll also get to walk at a regular pace.

As for battles, the addition of “steps” gives you an evasive action that also lets you keep a distance from enemies to add more of a strategic element to the battles.

The speed for changing characters that you’re controlling has also been increased by getting rid of the character change indicator. This has overall increased the battle tempo.

You now have the option to change the battle BGM at the start of each battle. This setting can be switched on and off. Another new battle option lets you choose to start out with the character you played as at the end of the previous battle.

Star Ocean 5 adds Welch Vineyard

Welch Vineyard, a recurring character in the Star Ocean series, will appear in Star Ocean: Integrity and Faithlessness, a leaked magazine scan reveals.

In Star Ocean 5, Welch is voiced again by Tomoe Hanba. She is a high tension girl who specializes in item research. She’ll teach you various different crafts.

Welch appeared in every Star Ocean game thus far, and is even playable in Star Ocean: First Departure and Star Ocean: Second Evolution. See what Welch looked like in previous Star Ocean games at the Star Ocean Wikia.
