Dragon Quest Monsters: Square Enix bestätigt Demo

Thanks, Famitsu.

Update 6:00 a.m.: New information has come in via Weekly Famitsu.

The story is set in the new, unknown land of “Arcadia.” Character design is being handled by Yuji Himukai, who has handled character design for the series so far.

There are four races living in Arcadia:

- Arslan (human-like)
- Lunaria (elf-like)
- Cerian (beast ears)
- Brani (dwarf-like)

10 classes have also been confirmed:

- Fencer (Arslan)
- Dragoon (Arslan)
- Cestus (Arslan)
- Reaper (Arslan)
- Necromancer (Lunaria)
- Warlock (Lunaria)
- Warrior (Cerian)
- Hound (Cerian)
- Herbalist (Brani)
- Shaman (Brani)

Through character creation, you can finely tune coloring, as well give your character an odd eye (one eye that’s a different color).

Players can choose from the following voice actors for their character: Shouta Aoi, Satomi Arai, Akira Ishida, Toru Okawa, Ayaka Ohashi, Yoshihisa Kawahara, Misaki Kuno, Mitsuki Saiga, Takuya Satou, Asami Seto, Atsuko Tanaka, Kosuke Toriumi, Joji Nakata, Kaori Nazuka, Natsuki Hanae, Saori Hayami, Megumi Han, Yoko Hikasa, Rina Hidaka, Yui Horie, Ayumu Murase, and Tsubasa Yonaga.

The following are tidbits from an interview with director Shigeo Komori:

- The concept for the latest game is character customization with a high degree of freedom and dungeon exploration that tickles your adventurous spirit, as well as consistent battles and growth.
- With the new races never seen in previous games, you can make a completely new character.
- Voices are also introduced. However, similar to previous games, people who want to play without voices can choose to do so.
- The Hound class is named for the pets it is able to use.
- Dungeon exploration’s table talk RPG-ness has been enhanced.
- The map on the lower screen, as well as the icons and controls have been improved.
- The sub-classes of Etrian Odyssey III and IV, and the Grimoires of Etrian Odyssey Untold made it so you could make a team with no weak points. This one is being designed so that it’s harder to make a well-rounded team; all the classes have very specific roles, like in the first Etrian Odyssey.

Development is currently 60 percent complete.

Dragon Quest Monsters: Joker 3 details Great Riders Cup

Square Enix has released Dragon Quest Monsters: Joker 3 information and screenshots detailing the game’s recently revealed “Great Riders Cup” element.

Get the information below.

Great Riders Cup

The Great Riders Cup is a new element that takes advantage of Dragon Quest Monsters: Joker 3‘s ride system.

Players will compete against other monster masters using their monster ride techniques. The rules are simple: catch the slimes on the field and bring it back to your goal. Each time you bring a slime back to your goal, you’ll earn a point. The monster master who earns the most points within the allotted time is the winner.

Chomach, part of the Nochora family, is in charge of the Great Riders Cup reception desk. There are various ranks within the Great Riders Cup, and by clearing high ranks you can earn various rewards.

First, you’ll choose a monster to ride. In the Great Riders Cup, the level and size of the monster is irrelevant.

Then, you’ll try to capture as much slimes on the field as possible, bringing them back to your goal to earn points.

You can choose to carry a number of slimes at the same time, earning a large quantity of points all at once upon bringing them to your goal.

Each monster has its own different abilities, including movement speed and attack techniques.

By using an “Impact Stomp,” you can attack the other party and take away their slimes.

A variety of items will fall on the field. Utilize them well in competing against the other monster masters.

Rockbombs can blow up the enemy’s goal.

If you manage to carry back a gold slime to your goal, you’ll earn more points.

If you earn first place, you’ll acquire a lot of experience points. Additionally, depending on the degree of difficulty, you may be able to obtain hard to acquire items.

Multiplayer

The Great Riders Cup can be played single-player, but also in local or Wi-Fi multiplayer. When playing with others, you can also earn Communication Coins.

Local Battles

In local battles, a total of four players can enjoy the Great Riders Cup. When you don’t have enough people, you can use CPU enemies, as well.

Wi-Fi Battles

Compete with others in time attack battles to earn the decided score within the determined time. Challenge players nationwide.

V- Jump Dragon Ball: Fusions Scan Shows off More Fusions, Character Creation and Jikuuichi Budokai

The latest V-Jump scan reveals a handful of things including a new name change from Dragon Ball: Project Fusion to Dragon Ball: Fusions. The contents of the scan show three examples of what-if fusions using Krillin which include:

Krigohan – Krillin x Gohan

Gollin – Young Goku x Krillin

Pillin – Piccolo x Krillin

Characters that fuse without the wristband will gain the fusion costume that can be seen on Pillin. Fusions that use the wristbands are called “EX Fusions”.

The second part of the scan gives some details on the game’s story mode. The premise is that the player and Pinich make a wish to Shenron to create the strongest Budokai in the universe and what this does is fuse the world of Dragon Ball together to participate in the Jikuuichi Budokai.

Finally, there are five races to choose from when you create a character which include Human, Saiyan, Alien, Spirit Worldian and Namekian.

Dragon Ball: Fusions will release on the Nintendo 3DS sometime this year in Japan. There is no word on an international release as of yet.
