Nights of Azure coming west in late March

Nights of Azure, launched in Japan as Yoru no Nai Kuni this fall, will launch for PlayStation 4 in North America on March 29 and in Europe on April 1, Koei Tecmo announced.

Here’s an outline of the game, via Koei Tecmo:

- Under the direction of Keisuke Kikuchi (Fatal Frame, Deception IV), Nights of Azure marks a new, darker direction for GUST studios while maintaining many of the gameplay elements adored by dedicated fans of the studio.

- Nights of Azure is a tragic tale of two friends faced with impossible decisions that will test their loyalty to their quest and to each other. Set on an uncharted island that floats in the North Sea, Nights of Azure paints a picture of a land where nights are tormented by azure-blooded demons. In this kingdom of Ruswal, very few people leave their homes after the sun has set, let alone have the strength and skill to take on these powerful monsters. One of the best among these brave few is the protagonist, Arnice, a knight of great skill and power, who is assisted by her friend and priestess Lilysse in a quest to rid the land of demons. However, they soon find out that the solution to the island’s problems might not be as simple as defeating enemies in battle.

Nights of Azure details leading characters

Koei Tecmo has released new information on Nights of Azure, introducing the Gust-developed action RPG’s setting and leading characters.

Get the information below.

Setting

The game is set on the imaginary island-kingdom of Ruswal, where nights are plagued by Azure-blooded demons. Although it is dangerous for humans to leave their homes after dark, the brave knights known as the Curia are trained to fend off the ever growing threat.

Arnice

Among them is Arnice, a warrior of great skill and the protagonist of Nights of Azure. While she’s skilled with a blade, her talents aren’t just a product of her training. Arnice has some demon blood herself and is actually the only human that has managed to touch azure blood and survive! This event hasn’t left her unscathed and its thrilling implications become apparent quite early on; among others, it allows her access to a set of impressive abilities including the power to summon monsters to her aid in battle.

Lilysse

Lilysse is a chosen saint whose fate is inextricably intertwined with the outcome of the game, and Arnice’s best friend. Their friendship is one of the most vital storytelling elements of this title, and the ending of the game will be greatly affected by how players choose to incorporate it in key decisions.

Nights of Azure will launch for PlayStation 4 in North America on March 29 and in Europe on April 1.

While there’s no guarantee that the game will get a PlayStation Vita release, it looks like a good majority of fans have voiced their opinions on the matter:

Nights of Azure is slated for release for PlayStation 4 in North America on March 29, and Europe on April 1, 2016.

Koei Tecmo also shared new details about the game’s Hotel hub area:

When she is not roaming the streets of Ruswal fighting dark shadowy shapes, monsters, and demonic dragons, Arnice takes solace in a local hotel to rest, trade, and prepare for the inevitable coming of the next night.

At the Hotel, she can buy and sell weapons and a variety of gear to aid her in battle and, after certain quests have been completed, she can trade with Lloyd, the merchant, and order rare and powerful items! She can also pick up quests from the hotel proprietor, Simon, to earn money or various items. These quests can also provide and interesting insight into the background story of the world, which Arnice herself is oblivious to.

Additionally, the Hotel is the entrance point to an exciting Arena feature. In the progress of the story, Arnice gains entry to an arena which can be used to hone her skills and earn special rewards!

Nights of Azure will launch for PlayStation 4 in North America on March 29 and in Europe on April 1.
