Nintendo reveals the official sales numbers for the GameCube and Game Boy Advance in the latest update on their business situation. First, the Pokémon Ruby and Sapphire GBA games have reached 6,600,000 units worldwide. The GBA has 15,650,000 sales for the fiscal year. That includes over 4 million attributed to Japan, proving that the handheld truly is a global cash cow. Worldwide sales of the GameCube are 5,760,000 from March 30, 2002 to March 31, 2003. Both system sales numbers do not account for sales after the end of the fiscal year in March 2003.
Global sales of GameCube to date are at or have surpassed 10 million, GBA is headed for 35 million. We've done some calculations and that means roughly 760,000 GameCube systems were sold for each month from launch in November 2001 to March 2002; and a combined 3.8 million units were sold during that period. That dropped to about 475,000 units per month from March 2002 to March 2003 where 5.7 million GCN systems were sold in total.
