Apocalypse Now Co-Writer Scripts European Assault
Electronic Arts unveil John Milius as the scriptwriter for the forthcoming Medal of Honor title...
EA have today confirmed that Hollywood Writer/Director John Milius is behind the script of MoH: European Assault, which is set for release in Summer 2005. The game, which takes place across key theatres of war including Stalingrad and the Battle of the Bulge, sees players take control of the very first OSS agent, William Holt as he undertakes classified missions right in the heart of war-torn Europe.
Medal of Honor Executive Producer Dan Winters was obviously very pleased with Milius? appointment saying, "The Medal of Honor franchise stakes its reputation on epic, cinematic action, and so does John Milius. It's a natural fit!"
And it seems that Milius was more than happy to lend his skills to the franchise commenting, "Video games provide a great medium for storytellers like me, and the authentic WWII subject matter of the Medal of Honor franchise is a great premise for a storyteller? As someone who has long been considered a creative cowboy, I really enjoyed collaborating with the dynamic creative talent of EALA's development team on the intense action-filled story of Medal of Honor European Assault. It took me back to when I had first started in the entertainment industry, back to my days as a USC film student, and sharing ideas with visionary thinkers like Steven Spielberg and George Lucas."
Milius? track record speaks for itself as he is the man behind some of cinema?s greatest moments including Dirty Harry?s "Go ahead, make my day? phrase to the scene describing the fate of the USS Indianapolis in World War II for Jaws as well as co-writing Coppola?s Apocalypse Now.
The Medal of Honor franchise has become increasingly stagnant in recent iterations and has had to face a lot of opposition not only rival FPS titles but also from other historic conflict games including Conflict, Call of Duty, and Men of Valor (not to mention the very recent Brothers In Arms.) We of course are trying to remain optimistic but so far it has to be said that the signs aren?t looking good especially in light of the recent trailer for the game.
