May 15, 2003 - James Bond is the most famous cool mo'fo in the world. His name is spoken above Steve McQueen even. But the past versions of Bond from EA have been first-person adventures, hiding away much of the cool reserve of 007. This year, EA's making a huge change with James Bond 007: Everything or Nothing for all consoles and the PC. Finally in the third-person, Bond offers a whole new game filled with interactive objects, more intelligent baddies, and the silky smooth voice and handsome face of one Mr. Pierce Brosnan.
I thought going 3D with Bond was a big mistake on EA's part before playing the E3 demo. Now, I'm glad they made the choice, because the ten minutes of Bond I played far outshined the EA Bond games by a wide margin. The E3 demo begins with Bond repelling down a burning building. Controls are intuitive, so much so that I never even had to think about what button would do what. Moving the left thumbstick, it was easy to hop down the building, dodging the inferno.
Once on the ground, I had to waste a few fools with my machinegun. Auto-lock is with the left trigger and then it's just a matter of shooting the fool. But you could shoot fools in the first-person Bond, so this is nothing new. What is new, is your ability to get into some hand-to-hand combat with simple fist and foot combos. However, if you have a gun and are up close with a baddier, pulling the right trigger will have you pistol whip them, rather than shoot them wetworks style. The pistol whip is cool -- not Halo cool, but cool none-the-less.
Bond uses more gadgets than ever before, but also can use the environment. Much of the environment is now fully interactive. Pick up bottles and chuck them at enemies if you're so inclined. One instance in the demo, I had two guards standing in my way. While I could easily have capped the fool, I chose another option. Sneaking around the side of them, I opened a steampipe next to them, thus rendering them unconscious. Of course, turning the next corner had me facing hellacious gunfire, but hey, that's the way things go.
Bond also features a number of crazy vehicles, including the new Porche Cayenne SUV. Why Bond is thinking of using an SUV to run and gun the criminal element is anyone's guess. Sure it's an SUV that can bust 180 mph, but what girl's gonna hop his jock when he's driving around in a rich mama's car?
Outlook
Bond is a huge licensed franchise for EA and taking him 3D was a big risk. However, from what I've seen at E3, the risk has paid off with a game that looks better, plays better, and is more fun than the previous EA versions. Hopefully the rest of the game turns out as good.

Last but not least tritt das deutsche Super-Model Heidi Klum als hinterhältige Katya Nadanova auf.
