Retro For the Frog the Bell Tolls

Kennt wer Zelda: Link's Awakening? Ratet mal, was für ein Game das Parallelgame in der Entwicklung war. "For the Frog the Bell Tolls", wie カエルの為に鐘は鳴る quasi übersetzt heißt (obwohl ich's wahrscheinlich anders nennen würde.. ich halt mich mal an Wiki), hat mich neulich in den Bann gezogen, als ich eine Club Nintendo CD erhalten und den einen Track gehört habe, den ihr alle kennen solltet:

Höh? Mir kommt das doch bekannt vor. Und siehe da, nachdem ich das Game quasi gegoogled habe, handelt es sich dabei wirklich um einen der Prinzen aus LA, welcher ein Cameo im Zelda-Spiel hatte. Und der hatte wohl anscheinend ein cooles Spiel dazu.

Zu dem Spiel kann ich nicht wirklich viel sagen, außer, dass ich's bei eBay mir nun geholt habe. Eine offizielle englische Version gibt's davon nicht. Hier ist einmal der Wiki-Text dazu:

In a land far away, the two princes- Richard (of the Custard Kingdom) and the game's main protagonist (prince of the Sabure Kingdom) have shared a friendly rivalry since they were small children. They often compete, although it usually ends in a tie or close win. In Fencing however, Prince Richard is always the victor. One day a messenger arrives from a small neighboring kingdom, warning the princes that the evil King Delarin has invaded the Mille-Feuille Kingdom and captured the beautiful princess Tiramisu. In yet another boastful attempt to best the Sabure Prince, Richard grabs a boat and rushes towards the kingdom. The Sabure Prince is left trying to catch up. While on his journey, he and Richard (and many others) are transformed into frogs in an attempt to reveal the true happenings in this kingdom.

Das Kampfsystem läuft strikt und simpel ab, scheint aber genau so unterhaltsam zu sein, wie das eigentliche Spiel. Ich bin so etwas von Retro-Gehyped

Damn, das Spiel würde ich auch zu gerne zocken. Es gibt inzwischen sogar eine Fanübersetzung. Die Story stammt übrigens von Sakamoto und soll sehr gelungen sein. Die Jungs von Tiny Cartridge haben vor einigen Monaten ein Video gepostet, in dem die ersten 9 Minuten des Spiels gezeigt werden:
