Square Enix has announced a new Final Fantasy title for iOS/Android ahead of the start of E3. An excerpt of their E3 line-up reveals that Final Fantasy Dimensions, a name which we discovered a long time ago, is a retro Final Fantasy installement sounding like pure fanservice.
Drawing upon the roots of the series with such features as beautiful 2D pixel art, job-driven character growth, additional scenarios in which to inherit the jobs of your adventuring companions, and a classic story of light, darkness, and crystals,Final Fantasy Dimensions delivers the best of Final Fantasy, retro and fresh alike, directly to your smartphone.
A teaser website is up revealing the game’s logo drawn by Yoshitaka Amano and reveals a Summer 2012 release date for iOS. We can confirm that an Android version was also announced in the press release, likely scheduled for release at a later date. Together with other RPGs like Guardian Cross and several others (puzzle games) all slated for a Summer release, Square Enix will have you hooked to your iPod Touch, iPhone or iPad for sure.
