Nintendo Eyes GoldenEye
N64 Shooter might make a return

Australia, November 29, 2006 - One of the most appetising aspects of Nintendo's online strategy lies in their Virtual Console back-catalogue of classic games. However, the initial line-up had some glaring omissions - particularly from late-90s then-second-party developer Rare and their stellar GoldenEye.
However, according to an interview with US Nintendo PR honcho, Reggie Fils-Aime, this much-loved staple of Nintendo 64 gaming might just make a timely reappearance on the Virtual Console.
Thanks to an article by MTV's Stephen Totilo, Reggie was quoted as saying, "Would I love to see [GoldenEye] on virtual console? Absolutely. But there are a lot of issues there. Suffice it to say we would love to see it, so we're exploring all the rights issues."
Some of those issues are whoppers, too. Namely, Activision currently holds the rights to the James Bond license and Microsoft currently own Rare. In order to get ahold of the rights to GoldenEye once again, Nintendo would need to throw down some big dollars or come to some other workable arrangement, beneficial to all involved parties. We hope, for the sake of good gaming, they do.
