Brand new rumours on WiFi networks and DS DivX movies in the works...
Kotaku is reporting that they've got a 'source'. Nothing wrong with that, except that their source is slipping through tiny bits of information on Nintendo's activities.According to their source, Nintendo is currently working on two major projects.
First of all, Nintendo is said to be working on the rollout of a WiFi network, allowing DS gamers to play each other online without the need of being in the same room or building. Kotaku does not report anything about the location of possible hotspots, but do tell that they heard about downloadable games (presumably demos). Currently Nintendo is said to be busy working on getting the system to work without problems...
The second rumour Kotaku brings in, is said to be Nintendo's answer to the PSP's multimedia capabilities: DivX movies on the Nintendo DS. Apparently, Nintendo is working on using Divx compressed movies that can be played directly from DS cartridges, without using an adapter such as the Play-Yan. Compared to the GBA Video packs from Majesco, these cartridges will hold better quality video and about 2 to 3 times the amount of video (up to 2 hours).
Kotaku claims that the first movie to hit the DS using these new DivX cartridges will be an animated one, with Disney or Pixar mentioned as possibilities.
