Mega Man, God Hand's Gene were in final UMvC3 character pool
Gene from God Hand and Mega Man were in the final character pool for Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3, but they didn't make the final cut, Capcom's Christian Svensson explained on a video chat at Comic-Con. He talked about all sorts of other details, and a transcript of the notable stuff is below.
There's more after the jump as well.
• Gene from God Hand was in very close consideration for UMvC3's roster. They had more characters in the final pool than they could put in the game, and Gene happened to be in that category. Mega Man was in the final pool of characters too.
• Capcom is not prepared to talk about DLC for UMvC3 right now. Sven said DLC is a part of their business, but that doesn't mean character DLC has to be.
• Svensson said Mega Man is absolutely not dead and continues to be a very important brand for them.
• The net code in UMvC3 is its own thing, it's a different beast than anything Capcom has used in their other games.

• The net code in UMvC3 is its own thing, it's a different beast than anything Capcom has used in their other games.
• In regards to online features for UMvC3, the match making process was sped up, they reduced online lag and the menu flow is easier for rematching players.
• At the current stage of development, there is no replay mode in UMvC3.
• The HUD shown is not the final version and is for Comic-Con. They're aware the lifebars for backup characters are hard to see and more tweaks are coming.
• Niitsuma hoped to get more characters from Marvel vs. Capcom 2 into UMvC3, but Marvel had their preferences, so Capcom went with those. Niitsuma also wanted to get another non-fighting game character in, but didn't say who that was.
• Tournament results and videos were a factor in balancing the game. Fan feedback and other stuff went a long ways in helping the developers change things.
• Not all characters got new moves, some just got tweaks to their existing attacks. Moves were added or changed to balance out the game, not just to add/change moves. C. Viper did get a new move, though. Frame data for a lot of the characters has been tweaked.

Overall General Gameplay
• X-factor has been nerfed. Damage boost seems lower, duration seems lower on XF 2 and 3.
• X-factor is usable in the air. This is, surprisingly, not a bad thing. It actually adds a whole new, and fun, dynamic to the mix.
• DHC trick is fixed.
• The new hud is ugly, and an atrocity, but you'd be surprised how quickly you can learn to ignore it.
• New voice over's when a character is forced in by another character's death.
• Down TAC still builds yourself 1 meter, but side TAC removes a meter from the opponent. Really irritating / scary.
