PlayStation's new motion controller, the PlayStation Move, is a cool new gadget for the PS3, but everything about it isn't A-OK. While having motion controls on the PS3 sounds awesome there are several bad things you'll hate about the PlayStation Move.
The Glow Sphere
If Thomas Edison created gaming peripherals, the PlayStation Move would be it. The bad glowing light of the PlayStation Move motion controller is bound to be the thing you hate most about owning the PlayStation Move gaming controller. The bright orb on the PlayStation Move looks cool, hip, and awesome in the online ads, billboards, and commercials, but in person, you'll literally be able to see how bad of an idea that bright orb of the Move is.
Motion controllers are made to be flailed around rapidly and you'll hate the serious eye issues and conditions you'll face when swinging this motion controller around. You'll hate the bright shining ball atop the PlayStation Move even more once you realize that without this glowing spherical object, the Motion Eye camera on the PS3 wouldn't be able to sense the PlayStation Move's motion at all. Overall this light bulb attached to the PlayStation motion controller is just a case of bad design and its sure to be the thing PS3 owners hate most about owning PlayStation Move controller.
Lack of Four Player Support
The Nintendo Wii is successful because it was able to bring multiple casual gamers together for a fun multiplayer experience, but the PlayStation Move controller won't be able to support full peripheral gaming for more than 3 controllers. You'd be able to play with four players using the PlayStation Move, but you'll hate being limited to one controller games in order to battle your friends on the PS3. The lack of full four player support via the PlayStation Move is also bad news for PS3 developers that are plan on designing launch titles for the PlayStation Move - they'll hate compromising their creativity and the lack of freedom when designing games for the PlayStation Move.
The Cheap Feel of the Motion Controller
The weight, feel, and button layout of the PlayStation Move controller is kinda' bad and comes off as feeling a bit cheap. The PlayStation Move weighs less than the Nintendo Wii's motion controller, which will reduce muscle strain, but feels a bit weird in hand. The look and feel of the PlayStation Move motion controller is pretty bad as well, and if you're migrating from the Nintendo Wii, you'll hate the way the buttons and directional pads are configured.
Launch Game Titles are a Bit Dull
If you thought the Nintendo Wii games were bad, you'll hate the game titles that'll launch with the PlayStation Move motion controller. Some games are bad Wii rip-offs (with better graphics) and others are pretty much just tech demos. Just by looking at the titles of the launch PlayStation Move games you can tell that you'll already hate them. Games like Sports Champion, The Shoot, TV Superstars, Move Party, Motion Fighter, and Slider is a bad sign for future games that you'll likely hate playing via the PlayStation Move.
The Cost of the PlayStation Move
The cost of owning a PlayStation Move and extra peripherals can be pretty bad on your wallet. The PlayStation Move will launch with a starter package at a low price of $100 (you'll see why that's low in a bit) that includes a PlayStation Move motion controller, Motion Eye camera, and PS3 game. The $100 starter package is low, but the hate will set in when you start to calculate the cost of additional PlayStation Move peripherals.
