This thread is about Itachi's Gift to Naruto, the crow that flew down Naruto's throat and what it could be.
My theory starts with this.

We get the feeling that Itachi admires and respects Naruto. This will be the reason why he passes on his powers.

Here he is remembering his decision between his clan and Konoha's peace but also inclining that Naruto will have to make painful decisions, such as a decision between Konoha's peace and Sasuke. Itachi admires Naruto because Naruto declines to choose between Sasuke and Konoha.
So the first quote is easy to interpret. Itachi's power would kick in after Naruto had started to use the Kyuubi chakra and the power had gushed over him... Something that Itachi wouldn't want.

When Naruto swallows the crow and the shadow clone disperses the original body gains the information on the encounter but Naruto doesn't seem to remember the power he has gained which means that Itachi implanted it in his subconscious! That would be here.
Naruto really doesn't know what is going on in here. He doesn't remember a thing when he comes out of his trance and discussion with Kyuubi. Itachi put his power into this level of Naruto's consciousness. Naruto hasn't been able to access the power yet because he keeps to his promise that he will not use Kyuubi.
We know that Itachi's gift is presented and predestined on this page.
We have the crow with the headband. We have Naruto with the scroll. The full moon in the background.

Itachi is the crow. Naruto is Naruto. The scroll is just Naruto, he's always depicted with scrolls because he resembles a dragon. The full moon doesn't only resemble Tsukyomi but also Kyuubi.
Kyuubi is mostly drawn in the night with a full moon.
Of course the full moon is also a metaphor for Itachi.
So Kyuubi and Itachi are connected in that way and in that picture. We know that the power of Uchiha is that to control the Nine tails, most likely with genjutsu. The full moon speaks for Tsukyomi.
And if I'm right and Itachi's power is in Naruto's subconscious then Kishi has already given us the tip.

Could it be that this scene was meant as a spoiler for future chapters? I definitely wouldn't be surprised.
More support would be Tsukyomi itself. This is said about Tsukyomi.

But then this happens.
Sasuke overcame Tsukyomi. Zetsu names some weird reasons but never really explains how this could happen. It could be that Itachi transferred that part of Tsukyomi to Naruto?
Summing up.
I can't help but think that Itachi transferred Tsukyomi since we know that he can transfer Mangekyou techniques, like he did with Sasuke. Itachi transferred the crow down Naruto's throat but in a genjutsu right into Naruto's subconscious. This power is the power of Tsukyomi. This power is supposed to suppress Kyuubi incase the beast tries to take over him again.
Support.
This is supported by the full moon on both Kyuubi, Itachi and Tsukyomi. Then there's the crow that transported all of this on the cover page. And of course we already know that the sharingan can control Kyuubi's chakra since we saw Sasuke control Kyuubi in Naruto's mind. It explains why Tsukyomi failed as well.
Another suggestion
Now, I'm not sure on the next part. But I thought I should take a guess at how this power or Tsukyomi might manifest. There are tons of options. Itachi might be wandering in Naruto's mind himself, a crow might be in his mind, the Naruto in Naruto's mind might activate the Mangekyou to use Tsukyomi.
However there is one suggestion that I am inspired to make. The suggestion is mythology based and can be traced back to WraithX959 and his original theory on Itachi's gift.
LINK
In folklore there is a sword called Kogarasu Maru, translated "little crow" which is a famous "tachi"-sword. The Tachi would be the same Kanji as in I-tachi.
In mythology one of the swords from the legendary swords smith Ama-kuni of Yamato made a new kind of sword. However this sword was carried off by a little crow and was transported from warrior to warrior in the times. This sword was known as "little crow" or Kogarasu Maru.
We see another bird with Naruto. It isn't a crow but it fits perfectly. The bird has its claw on the sword.
And the first time we see Tsukyomi Itachi does this.
The sword in Tsukyomi...
Naruto actually carries a sword himself when on cover pages.
I would like to see Naruto carry a sword in his subconscious to withstand Kyuubi.
Pls vote the pole
edit:
It was pointed out that the databook says that you can only transport MS jutsus if the opposing has a sharingan. My answer was that Naruto would only use Tsukyomi in his mind to tame kyuubi. In his mind there is the crow which Itachi sent down Naruto's throat into Naruto's mind. That crow didn't only carry Tsukyomi but the sharingan as well.
