Retro City Rampage [PS Vita/PS3/XBLA/WiiWare/Steam]

“As the remaining SKUs were not yet out the door at the time of launch, I made the decision to take this as an opportunity to ensure that at minimum, those still waiting for the game would get a better experience from the get-go,” Provinciano said. “Throughout development I had a lot of people playtest the game and opened my ears like a sponge for all of the feedback that I could get.

“However, in the final couple of months before submission, the task list was overflowing. Being a one man show, I had to juggle everything from the programming, design and bug fixing to the business, production, trailer, store assets, marketing, emails, PR and most of all, certification and platform requirements.”

"There is no release date yet for the remaining SKUs, but all versions are complete and either well into certification or starting shortly."

The update includes changes car tailing and platforming levels, cars are faster, the levels are more balanced, additional checkpoints have been added, and many of the side quests are now fuller missions.

Oh man.

So springt man pausenlos daneben.

Plattform Summary:

PC Steam - Best return on investment
PC Direct Sales - Worth doing
PC non-Steam - Profitable but far more time consuming
PS Vita - Best console platform (development and return)
XBLA - Most expensive, a bottleneck, damaged PR, hindered other plaforms' success
WiiWare - Fan service (platform weaknesses addressed for WiiU/3DS)

:goodwork:

Retro City Rampage DX+ adds more visual polish -- including animated cutscenes. It brings more accessibility options. It boasts a much smoother camera. It adds support for ultra-wide monitors and more dynamic aspect ratios. It includes more HUD options and overscan control to ensure the game (and UI) can better fill the screen. It improves vehicle spawning, improves swimming controls... the list goes on!

Like the original to 'DX' before it, 'DX+' is another top-to-bottom fresh coat of paint. I dove back in with a fresh pair of eyes, and once again played through the game over and over from beginning to end, further polishing and refining the experience each time.

I didn't want to flip the game on its head though, don't worry! The best refinements are often the subtle ones. The ones you won't even notice, but will leave you with a more satisfying experience. The best visual improvements, so complementary, feel like they were there all along. Simply put, if you're like me, you won't even remember an RCR that didn't have animated cutscenes after playing the update!

The DX+ update also benefits from the years of polish and work that went into Shakedown: Hawaii's engine. As I went back to play through RCR, many of SH's improvements became even more apparent, and I felt compelled to bring a lot of those back into to RCR too!

The Retro City Rampage DX+ update is coming to Nintendo Switch, Nintendo 3DS, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, PS Vita, PC, Mac, Linux, iOS and Android! Whew! I've been busy!
