Laut anova.com einem englischem online news magazin wird die PS3 noch 2005 in serie gehn. Sonys techniker werkeln zurzeit heftig an einem vollkommen neuem Computer Chip der die PS3 zur leistungsfähigsten konsole die es je gab werden lassen soll. Das Budget für die Forschungen und entwicklung beträgt 275 Mio. Pfund. Sony konzentriert sich hauptsächlich aufs online gaming und will mit glasfaserkabel&Co. die perfekte Online-Konsole herstellen.[für was glasfaser??? Am PC geht online gaming doch auch fast in echtzeit und das schon ab 56K Modem...]
Wenn Sony es wirklich schafft 2005 eine neue Konsole auf den markt zu schicken dann sollten sich MS und Nintendo anstrengen und ebenfalls an den Nachfolgern von xbox und cube basteln, obwohl sie das sicher schon tun werden

"Sony at work on new version of PlayStation
Sony has begun developing the next generation of its PlayStation video games console for sale by 2005.
It plans to roll out a console that would allow gamers to play opponents over high-speed Internet networks.
The new game console will run on a computer chip expected to be around 200 times faster than ones currently installed in personal computers and game units.
Developing the chip will cost the Japanese electronics and entertainment giant about £275 million.
Sony has set its sights on online gaming as the new frontier, and is rushing to take control of the market before rivals Microsoft and Nintendo come up with their own versions. Microsoft makes the Xbox and Nintendo has GameCube.
Microsoft and Sony both have said they will sell adapters and software for games that can be played over the Internet later this year.
The new PlayStation would work over super-fast fiber-optics connections and would be Sony's first console to run games without a digital video disc.
Sony is also considering offering the new chip to other companies for use in televisions and electronics equipment.
