"Japan goes Card-e Crazy
5:09PM - Nintendo has gone back to its roots in the card making business, and is seeing amazing success in Japan this week with their Animal Forest+ collectable card series. Of course, this time around they aren't just simple, playing cards. These ones come equipped with rare barcodes that can be read with the GBA's Card-e reader and used to unlock new secrets in the GameCube game.
Packs have sold out so quickly that Nintendo has been prompted to post an official apology on their site and promise an extra one million shipments by the
beginning of next month! We don't have a Western release date for the Card-e reader yet, but it's looking increasingly certain that it will be coming our way
soon, hopefully bringing with it Mario Party, Game and Watch and Pokemon cards, as well as the possibility of many new franchises and uses... (mjb)"
