Gerade auf der Comic-Con angekündigt. Pressemeldung sollte später folgen. Wird bestimmt auch über Xbox Live verfügbar sein, deswegen kann der Thread hier auch hoffentlich bleiben.

Microsoft is producing seven short films titled "Halo Legends" in the anime style. Five production houses in Japan are handling the physical animation, but Microsoft's creative staff is approving major visual and storytelling decisions, O'Connor said.

Here are the production companies: Bones, Casio Entertainment, Production I.G., Studio4 C, and Toei Animation.

It's planning to preview them on the online gaming service Xbox Live this fall and has then enlisted Warner Bros. -- the game companies still need a little help from Hollywood -- to release them on DVD, Blu-ray and other digital platforms in early 2010.

Frank O'Connor, creative director of 343, gave a peek at some of the other Halo Legend shorts. Studio4 C's project, tentatively called "Origins," is a two-parter that's about 30 minutes long in total and tells the entire 100,000 year history of the Halo universe.

Microsoft gave the production companies largely free reign in how the shorts looked, but O'Connor and others were heavily involved in developing the stories and making sure all the details were right.

"Depending on the studio we did everything from writing the stories to feeding them with characters and scenarios they could explore," he said.

Halo goes Animatrix: Sieben Anime-Kurzfilme in Arbeit!

10:17 Uhr - Die Matrix hatte es, The Dark Night bekam es und nun wird auch der Masterchief mit einer eigenen Anime-Reihe gewürdigt. Microsoft vereint fünf der besten japanischen Anime-Studios unter der kreativen Führung von Shinji Aramaki, um sieben Kurzfilme aus dem Halo-Universum zu produzieren. Erste Infos und Bilder hier!

Fünf legendäre Anime-Schmieden (Bones, Casio Entertainment, Production I.G., Studio4 C und Toei Animatio) arbeiten an den insgesamt sieben knapp 15 Minuten langen Episoden. Die Projektleitung übernimmt Shinji Aramaki (Regisseur von Appleseed und Appleseed Ex Machina), während die neugegründe Microsoft Abteilung 343 Industries darauf achte, dass die Geschichten sich inhaltlich gut in das Halo-Universum einfügen lassen. Ab Herbst kann die erste Episode über Xbox Live heruntergeladen werden. Alle sieben Episoden werden dann 2010 in Zusammenarbeit mit Warner Bros als DVD und Blu-ray in den Handel kommen.

At first he was a bit wary about revealing any details, but O'Connor quickly granted that when Microsoft releases a trailer for Halo Legends at its Comic-Con panel, fans are sure to pick apart every frame.

"I think the core 'Halo' fans will recognize key moments from the universe never shown in the game," he said. "They're moments where people wanted more depth. That's where this fits."

A preview of select "Halo Legends" episodes will first debut on Xbox LIVE, the largest gaming and entertainment network in the world, starting this fall through a new experience called Halo Waypoint. Launching in fall, Halo Waypoint will be a new destination for "Halo" fans on Xbox LIVE around the world. It will inform fans of the latest "Halo" news and activities, and grant access to content ranging from podcasts, trailers and screenshots, to exclusive video footage you won't find anywhere else. It also will provide a new challenge for "Halo" gamers with a career system and player rankings tied to both in-game and out-of-game accomplishments related to "Halo." In addition to the limited, early episode premieres, Halo Waypoint will debut several behind-the-scenes videos that chronicle the making of "Halo Legends."

das bisschen was man erkennen kann sieht schonmal gut bis sehr gut aus. außer die szenen von Toei, die wirken wie ein billiger shounen xD
