Spark Unlimited, the team responsible for Call of Duty: Finest Hour, is working on a new first-person shooter called Fall of Liberty, to be published by Codemasters.

Set during an alternative reality 1950's, America has been invaded by Nazi Germany, the Swastika ripples from the roof of The White House, and Marilyn Monroe probably sports a funny little Hitler moustache.

Spark has dug up a historical fact - that Winston Churchill survived being struck by a taxi in 1931 - and ran with it as if the wartime leader didn't get back up off the pavement. Or ‘sidewalk'.

According to Spark, who are really going off on one, the Normandy invasion didn't happen and the UK and Europe succumbed to the tyrannical Nazi jackboot by 1945.

Which gives the developer plenty of real-world US locations to dress up in Gestapo regalia, like a wartime-obsessed edition of Ground Force.

"Spark is very excited to be working with Codemasters to bring to life an event gaming experience that will dramatise what might have happened if history had taken a different course," said Craig Allen, CEO of Spark Unlimited.

Gameplay details are sparse, but use your imagination. It's a first-person shooter so expect lots of guns with which to dispatch the Nazi menace.

Turning Point: Fall of Liberty Weiteres Video online

Zu Codemasters Ego-Shooter "Turning Point: Fall of Liberty", der im Januar/Februar 2008 erscheinen soll, steht jetzt ein neuer Trailer im Netz. Das kommentierte Video zeigt Kämpfe zwischen Angehöriger der US-Armee und Soldaten der Deutschen Wehrmacht in Straßen und Gebäuden von New York City.

"Turning Point: Fall of Liberty" handelt vor dem Hintergrund eines fiktiven Szenarios und spielt im New York des Jahres 1952. Hitler hat - so die Story - mittlerweile ganz Europa erobert und setzt jetzt zur Invasion auf die amerikanische Ostküste an. Seine Seestreitkräfte bewegen sich Richtung Hudson River, Görings Luftwaffe kreist über Manhattan und deutsche Fallschirmjäger springen nahe Washington D.C. ab. Für den Spieler gilt es natürlich, die Eindringlingen zu bezwingen.

Für den Soundtrack zu "Turning Point: Fall of Liberty" wird Michael Giacchino verantwortlich sein. Der Komponist arbeitete in der Vergangenheit bereits an der Musik zu den WW2-Ego-Shootern "Medal of Honor" sowie "Call of Duty" mit und war zudem auch an mehreren Film-Soundtracks (z.B. "Mission Impossible 3") beteiligt. Unterstützung erhält Giacchino diesmal von Jack Grillo (Audio Director), der den dynamischen Soundtrack zu "Fall of Liberty" produziert. Für die musikalische Umsetzung sorgt das 76-piece Hollywood Studio Orchestra. "Turning Point: Fall of Liberty" wird für PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 sowie PC auf den Markt kommen. In Deutschland erhält der Titel die USK-Einstufung "keine Jugendfreigabe".
