EA, Nintendo clean up at Joysticks
EA and Nintendo grabbed three gongs apiece at Future Publishings Golden Joystick Awards 2004 earlier this afternoon.
In the non-game award, Amazon.co.uk pipped GAME and Play.com to win Retailer of the Year.
Ion Storms Warren Spector was also voted into the Golden Joysticks Hall of Fame in a ceremony hosted by Little Britains Matt Lucas at the Park Lane Hotel in London.
The Awards attracted record levels of voting from some 200,000 consumers, with no single publisher dominating proceedings.
Nintendos three awards included Game Cube Game of the Year (Mario Kart: Double Dash), Hardware of the Year (GBA SP NES Classic Edition) and Most Wanted Game for 2005 (The Legend of Zelda).
EA weighed in with PS2 Game of the Year (Burnout 3: Takedown), Online Game of the Year (Battlefield Vietnam) and Publisher of the Year.
Activisions Doom 3 was the only game to scoop two awards, picking up PC Game of the Year and Ultimate Game of the Year beating the likes of Far Cry, Fable and Pro Evolution Soccer 4.
