Once again we’ve got some of our Gameplayer gurus currently indisposed at a big Sony event in Sydney and they’ve just had to kill someone and steal their phone to get the following information to us. Check out the latest Sony news straight from the event below.

* Just shy of 500,000 PS3 units have been sold in Australia to date (this is more than the original Xbox sold), with around 50 % of these being sold online.
* The PSP is set to receive two exclusive sports games in July, both developed by Wicked Witch in Melbourne; AFL Challenge and Rugby League Challenge.
* A funky free app called Vidzone is due for release on the PS3 soon. It’s been in secret development in London for a year now and will allow PS3 users to stream music videos onto their console. Once released, it will be displayed as a crossbar under the PS3 music section and will allow users to choose from a range of streamable video clips; they’re also going to be hosted locally so it should work quickly and smoothly.
* inFamous is scheduled for release Down Under in June.

Breaking News – Sony to Publish Ghostbusters

Could Ghostbusters now be a Sony exclusive?

The Sony event in Sydney is still rolling on but in espionage-like movements that would put Sam Fisher to shame, our Gameplayer staff have managed to get more breaking news through to us. This particular announcement was left until the end, and with good reason; it’s huge.

According to our guys on the frontline, Sony has made an agreement with Atari to publish the soon to be released Ghostbusters: The Video Game. While this news may not initially come across as particularly groundbreaking, it’s the implications of the late announcement that are potentially extreme.

At its most extreme, the news could mean that Ghostbusters just became a Sony exclusive product. If this turns out to be the case it would mean that only the PS2 and PS3 would receive the game, while the Xbox 360, Wii, DS and PC would be left in the dark. A less extreme implication may well be that the proposed multiplatform release date just got thrown out the door. It may still arrive on all of the announced platforms, but Ghostbusters may get some exclusive Sony time before the other platforms get their chance to wrangle ghouls. Because all good speculation comes in threes, it may also mean that a late PSP port could be added to the list, resulting in a wholly Sony exclusive release (be it timed or indefinite) across all three of its supported platforms.

falsch....in dieser gen sind gerade die multi games die spiele die am besten sind!
Bioshock,GTA4,HL2,ResidentEvil5,Cod4und5,Oblivion,assasinscreed,.....
und das neue finalFantasy wird auch rocken...

und jetzt komm mir nicht mit exclusivtiteln wie littlebigplanet, killzone2 oder Drake....oder eben halo3, gow2 usw......
Diese spiele habe oder hatte ich alle und keines davon war so genial wie ein bioshock oder resi5!

So ist es, aber ich glaub trotzdem nicht dass jetzt die anderen Versionen eingestampft werden. Da wird sich doch kein Entwickler drauf einlassen. :-?

Seh ich genau andersrum. Aber das hat hier nix verloren.

Geschmäcker sind eben verschieden und das Thema hat hier auch nix verloren...
BTW: ich bin auch nach den Gameranking.com-Wertungen gegangen, nicht nur nach meiner eigenen Meinung.

seh ich auch nicht so... bioshock war stink langweilig und noch nie so ein liebloses game wie RE5 gezockt... (der coop kann ja gut sein aber mich als SP hat man mit dem dummen sidekick nur vergrault)
wohin gegen drake bis auf die spieldauer und die gegnerwellen ein juwel ist... (es fehtl nur etwas feinschliff)
aber das ist eben immer nur die eigene meinung und sollte von daher nicht so pauschalisiert werden!

naja ist das nicht so nen game zum film? und nur weil sony publisher ist muss das nicht heisen das das game besser wird... sony hat schon viel müll gepublished... so wie alles konsolenhersteller!

und dazu nen eigener thread? :-? also das hätte man auch in den PS3 topiv posten können

Sony kündigt VidZone an !

VidZone ist eine herunterladbare XMB-Erweiterung über die diverse Musikvideos, Konzertmitschnitte, "Hinter den Kulissen"-Mitschnitte, Interviews etc. bereitstellt wird.
Das ganze wird natürlich kostenlos sein und gestreamt werden, was die Festpatte sauber hält !
Geplant ist dort das Material von über 10.000 Künstlern bereitzustellen - angepasst an die Regionen versteht sich.
