I love zombies
george romero is the undisputed father of zombie gore cinema. franchises like "resident evil" and even "doom" take many of their style cues and world rules from the early romero films. needless to say, there are few things more creepy than dead people who won't *die*.

recently my company tmiec partnered with asylum entertainment to bring to life a new romero concept called "city of the dead". we're now in the process of shopping the interactive rights to games publishers. the tagline for the product is "the goriest game ever made". we hope to bruise a few psyches with this one.
below are a couple of concept images. you can also check out the concept overview document.

if you're a publisher looking for a new piece of IP with pre-sold awareness and a huge built-in marketing you need not look much further than this. romero's most recent film, a remake of dawn of the dead, knocked "the passion of christ" out of the #1 slot a few months back. a second film was just green-lit, and a third is in the works. romero himself would be happy to be involved in the development... and yours truly is available as well :) we also have an amazing development team lined up and ready to go. contact me if you'd like more info about the license.

Meinst du die "Dawn of the Dead" - Filme?

a quick update... first off, wow! you guys really *love* zombies. the response to the romero concept has been off the charts. fans and publishers both have been flooding me with email regarding the project. feels like we're going to get this one picked up, but you never know, so keep your fingers crossed. a couple of quick things:

1. i know you're excited, i am too, but please refrain from random emails to me about this project. i feel compelled to answer everyone, but at this point there isn't enough time in the day. unless you're a publisher interested in the license please get your info from the website and forum.

2. i stated something about "romero's most recent film" in the first post. many of you reminded me that romero had nothing to do with the most recent romero film. maybe it's not much to you guys but he did get a film credit: "based on a screenplay by" anyway, i didn't mean to imply he had some major involvement. he will be more directly involved in some of the upcoming "dead" projects.

3. related to #2... i'm not interested in arguing with anyone about credits, the superiority of fast moving zombies over slow moving ones, whether or not zombies should bleed gallons, carry weapons, or why they lust for brains. go fight it out in the forums! :)

4. no more info about this project is going to be released until we get a publisher. at this point everything would be pure speculation, and you know how much you hate it when someone promises you something in a game and it never materializes.

5. thanks for all the support and words of encouragement. it's nice to know so many people are excited about this project. i am too and hope we can bring something very cool to you soon.

the guys at mercury steam sent over a couple of cool zombie concept images. based on what an amazing job they've done on scrapland we're really excited to have them attached to develop the romero "city of the dead" game.

we're still shopping the idea to publishers, and have had a tremendous response so far. personally, i'm surprised that microsoft hasn't stepped up and laid claim to "the goriest game ever made". talk about a cool way to launch xbox2. it seems like a culturally significant title like this could really make a difference in audience perception of the platform.

these images were done by mse artist juan antonio alcazar. he rocks the dead.
