Erst mal abwarten was die Player a) kosten, b) wie die Leistung ist... Bei einem nur marginalen Unterschied in der Qualität und der jetzigen Presidifferenz DVD-BluRay könnte es durchaus eine Alternative sein.

Genau das habe ich mich auch gefragt. Jemand ´ne Idee? Hört sich ansonsten ganz interessant an, vor allem wenn seit fast 10 Jahren am DVDs kaufen ist hat sich ganz schön was angesammelt.

Bluray Disc Sales Hit 11 Million
4 The world just keeps getting more Blu as the end of the format war has led to consumers jumping into high-def discs with both feet.

More than 11 million hi-def Blu-ray movies have been sold so far, according to data compiled by the Redhill Group for Home Media Magazine, and that's even before the potentially biggest Blu-ray title to date hits the market on September 2: "Transformers."

Projections based on preliminary data show that Blu-ray sales through May have already surpassed sales for all of 2007.

Blu-ray software sales in the first four months of this year more than quadrupled from the same period last year, climbing to 11 million since inception.

In an indication that the surrender of HD DVD had the overall effect everyone had hoped for in sparking the average consumer to feel comfortable jumping into the high-def market, this year's Blu-ray software sales through April are more than triple the number of sales of Blu-ray and HD DVD combined during the same period last year.

To further illustrate the point, consumers are increasingly choosing Blu-ray over DVD when new releases are available in both formats. For example, a year ago each new top 10 release mostly generated only 1% - 2% of sales from Blu-ray, with a couple titles collecting as much as 5% on Blu-ray.

Ich weiß überhaupt nicht, was das von TOSHIBA soll. NATÜRLICH ist ein hochskaliertes Bild einer DVD zwar etwas besser als ein nicht skaliertes - aber nicht mal ansatzweise mit dem Bild einer guten Blu-ray vergleichbar.

Weiterhin hat diese Funktion in der Zwischenzeit jeder bessere DVd-Player und die PS3 sowieso.

TOSHIBA benimmt sich im Moment wie beleidigte Fanboys. Sie haben auf das falschen Pferd gesetzt, sie haben Geld verbrannt - und anstatt nun endlich auf's richtige Pferd zu setzen ...

Nee, hoffentlich hauen mal die Aktionäre auf die Finger.

Ja, ist schon bescheuert, auf so einen zugkräftigen Film und überhaupt den besten Blockbuster der Geschichte so lange warten zu müssen. :devil2: Arme BluRay User.

Hab´ ich schon erwähnt, daß ich mit Kumpels zusammen letzten Sonntag dieses Meisterwerk in HD genossen habe? ---> Dauerorgasmus confirmed, würde ich sagen. :-D Die DVD fand ich ja schon toll, aber die HDDVD toppt überhaupt alles. Also die Transformers konnte man ja so dermassen detailliert bewundern, das war ja schon abartig toll und *sabber* Könnte ich mir jeden Tag ansehen. Und die Specials mit der GPS-Funktion ist soooo geil.

Danke Mr. Bay für dieses filmische Meisterwerk!!!

Selbst "Nischenmarkt" wäre noch zu hoch gegriffen... und das bis zu 18 Monate nach PS3-Release!

klingt denoch schlecht wenn man sich die verkaufzahlen der PS3 + die der reinen BR-Player vor augen hält. so kommt nicht mal eine BR aufeinen Player. Und vlt sind das sogar noch angebote dabei gewesen wie damals casino royal. also ich sehe das noch nicht so pricklend.

2. VHS: 800.000 (!!!)
3. Blu-Ray + HD-DVD: 500.000

(VHS hatte 60% mehr Verkäufe als Blu-Ray+HD-DVD!!!)


... und jetzt ist zu lesen, dass Blu-Ray von Januar bis April die Verkaufszahlen des Vorjahreszeitraums vervierfachen konnte. Also ziehen wir die HD-DVD ab und nehmen es mal vier... omg Blu-Ray wird dieses Jahr einen Marktanteil von fast 2% haben!!! :o

Toshiba controversially announces their new 1080p upscaling technology will rival Blu-ray

Early June a rumour emerged that Toshiba would be launching a new attack on Sony, via the magic of new 'upscaling' technology. Of course, this is nothing new, with Toshiba themselves working on similar products for "some considerable years, at least 3-5 years", with DVD players, TVs and now laptops containing the upscaling chips, plus with their 'Super-resolution' imagery where SD-content is upscaled via an interpolation algorithm to 1080p.

However, today at a London event, Toshiba formally announced upscaling would be their next plan of attack on Sony, claiming they would be focussing on "taking standard content, and displaying in HD format". This technology, upscaling standard definition content, such as a DVD, to a higher resolution, has long been controversial for not even comparing to the real high-def experience that comes via Blu-ray, or HD DVD

Toshiba explained to the assembled press at today's event that their technology would "add resolution", and "fill in the gaps", providing stronger colours and clarity where it was missing. They showed two TVs both displaying the same content, one at standard definition, and one using their upscaling device, and whilst the latter did look more impressive, it would pale in comparison if shown next to a true HD source. Which Toshiba obviously didn't do, as they're no longer endorsing HD DVD and will never support Blu-ray.
After receiving some far from publishable questions and insults from the assembled journalists ("fanciful nonsense" was one of the kinder remarks from a journalist during the Q&A session), the representatives, including Emily Shirley, Head of Product Marketing at Toshiba Europe were obviously getting irate. "Blu-ray is only a storage medium", they retorted, explaining it was not the only way to view high-def content on your TV.

Digital downloads are proving to be a lucrative business for all concerned, particularly Microsoft, and it was obvious from today's meeting that Toshiba will be supporting that side of the new format war for the foreseeable future. "The fact that Bill Gates and everyone in the industry is talking about downloads is illustrious", one of the panel members responded with, when asked about the worth of downloads in comparison to Blu-ray, however they hastened to add "we're not necessarily saying anything negative about Blu-ray".

It's unclear as to what products Toshiba will be launching in the next few months with the upscaling chip, however the Qosmio laptops announced today all feature the technology. All eyes will be on the IFA technology show on August 20th in Berlin, where Toshiba is expected to introduce their new Blu-ray 'killer'.

Da war es eine Ankündigung und jetzt nen Monat später wird es offiziel angekündigt und vorgestellt.

finde ich imo dumm was Toshiba da abzieht. ich mein, darunter leiden wird am ende nur der konsument (aka wir!).
wäre cooler wenn man versucht jetzt Blu-Ray zu unterstützen und zu fördern das die preise schnell genug sinken. auch wenns von $ony ist und Toshiba die net leiden kann, der formatkrieg wurde doch beendet.

stößt bei mir auf vollkommenes unverständnis!
