http://www.next-gen.biz/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=5583&Itemid=2THQ revealed today that it has cancelled the PlayStation 3 version of Saints Row, instead opting to focus on a full-blown sequel to the Xbox 360 hit.
Saints Row, which was expected in Q1, has been cancelled. We are rolling the resources onto Saints Row 2, said CFO Edward Zinser in a quarterly conference call.
The game is slated for release in 2008 as an anchor title for THQ on Xbox 360 and PS3. The game is in development by Volition, developer of the original Saints Row, which launched in August 2006.
THQ said today that it has shipped over 1.4 million units of the Xbox 360 version of the game worldwide and it was recently released as a reduced-price Xbox 360 Platinum Hits title.
